If you were induced, or needed cervadil or cytotec during delivery, did your OB choose one or the other based on dilation?
When I was induced with DD, I was barely a fingertip dilated, and still pretty thick, and they placed cervadil. This time around, I'm 3-4cm, really thinned out, and scheduled for induction Sunday night.
Did your OBs give reasoning for choosing one over the other? I found the cervadil to be pretty uncomfortable, so I'm hoping she opts for cytotec, but I'm curious as to everyone else's experiences...
Re: If you were dilated before cervadil/cytotec...
My first time was with cervadil and the damn foley bulb, it sucked.
This sounds as wonderful as an induction with pitocin CAN sound. When I had my appt Wednesday, I asked the nurse if it would be the same deal as last time, and she said yes, but I don't think she knew what the state of my cervix was. Here's to hoping. Cervadil was balls. Like 12 hours of a tampon that isn't inserted quite right.
I went to be induced but was already 4cm and not thinned out at all. They only used Pitocin. We got things rolling around 9pm and baby was born at 6:42am. It seems long now but went perfect.
This is what I'm hoping for. When I went in for my induction with DD, the nurses checked me, and then called my OB with the info and got her recommendation. Everything I've read says that cervical ripeners are typically used to get the cervix to 1-2cm.
