So frustrated

Haleigh has been waking up like by the minute 30 minutes into each nap and then she still acts fussy like she's tired but if I try and get her back to sleep it doesn't get any where and if I keep her up she's fussy the whole time. I am so tired of bouncing on that dumb ball so I decided we were using the rocker and it's been on and off tears. My back hurts so bad but I can't get her to sleep any other way even with the carrier and I feel like I hair want to snuggle her while getting her to sleep and I can't even enjoy it :( I might as well just put her in her crib and let her cry but I feel bad. Sorry just needed to vent. We are on nap 4 of 30 min naps and I can't go anywhere because she is so fussy from not sleeping.

  • Had lots of moments like these. Huggs for you! Keep trying more things. Hopefully something will help.

  • For some reason my guy is doing 30 minutes almost exactly every 2 hours and he's 11 weeks
  • Thanks! I have tried just letting her stay up but the whole time she is fussy and acting tired like she wants to go back to bed but then when I try she gets mad. I'm just at a loss! Hoping it passes soon or we figure something out. Shes just laying in her crib now but is not crying so I'm gonna leave her alone. Maybe she just needs space.

This has been us from week three to now at week eight. We had two good days and I thought we were mostly done. Nope. Back at it today. Sorry you're going through it too. No advice. Just commiseration and hugs.

  • 30 minute naps are normal. Lower end of normal but normal.

Ds only naps 30 to 45 minutes in 2 hour cycle. An hour once a day. But he's happy as I know his naps will lengthen over time he takes 4 to 5 naps a day.
  • The days where clay refuses naps are the days where he wants to sleep on me. So I let him. Luckily I don't have any real responsibilities other than taking care of him so I can do this. But maybe try that if you can? I'd rather be bed/couch bound than have an over tired baby.

I would do this and maybe that is what she wants. I'm SO tired I think that's part of it but as soon as I sit in the rocking chair or stop moving or lay with her she starts waking up.

  • Thanks everyone! In ok with the 30 min naps although I wish they were longer cos I'm exhausted but she is so fussy after I feel like I can't enjoy just playing with her.

  • White noise has really helped us. Clayton usually gets fussy around nap time and I will go in his room and turn his on and just sit and rock quietly it really helps. You might want to try that!

    This.

Also, babies sleep cycles are often between 20-60 mins long depending on their age and such.  Sounds like LO is waking after each sleep cycle, probably startling awake I'd guess.

Is there a way to fix that? She finally slept 45 min then smacked herself. We've tried swaddles and swaddle me but she screams every time it's on even after some bouncing.

  • We went through this the past 2 days. 30 min naps, wanted to eat and would fuss unless he was being rocked in arms or laying on my chest. I felt bad for him because he is normally not like that and I could tell he was so tired. Today he seems back to normal though. Attributed it to a growth spurt.

She could just be ready to get up. DS fusses a bit but in a few minutes he's smiling and ready to eat and play. Waking up is hard for some people (myself included).
  • Thanks again for all the advice. I think I'm just not holding her long enough after she's sleeping. She woke up 15 min after a nap and acted hungry so I fed her and she fell asleep again so I just rocked with her and thought maybe she can get caught up on some sleep on me and after 30 min she jerked then her arms just dropped and I laid her down without her getting startled. I would be fine with this if she keeps letting me rock her and not bounce on that ball the whole time. It's killing me!

  • My girl takes super short naps too unless we are in her rocker and snuggled up. I don't have to keep rocking once she's out but she has to stay on me. She sleeps awesome at night. But naps are a struggle. The days where she gets long naps she is so much happier! Does your LO nap when you go out and about? I know if mine is fed and has a clean diaper she will be out like a light in her stroller.

Yep or the car. Or the carrier if I keep walking. To me though the 30 Mon naps are a huge improvemeet from 2 weeks ago. I know they will get longer and he's already fighting me less.

She used to nap when we were out and about but it's like she's gotten so used to how she goes to sleep at home that she struggles going to sleep any other way. I am trying to break her of the exercise ball now. It's been a struggle. I feel like naps and bedtime have not been calming and peaceful! I haven't given in on the ball thing though and she's finally asleep. Hopefully she will get used to the new way and it can go back to being peaceful!
