Growth U/S update and question about breech

At my last appointment one month ago baby only measured in the 16th percentile so they were a little concerned. I had a growth ultrasound today and baby measured in the 25th%. I forgot to ask what the exact weight was but they said they are no longer concerned! However, baby is breech but according to the U/S tech they don't get concerned until 32 weeks.  Anyone else know what position their baby is in right now?

Re: Growth U/S update and question about breech

  • I'm 28 weeks and my baby is breech as well, there is still plenty of time/room for her to flip back over. At my 20 week US she was head down, but not anymore.

  • I had an appointment yesterday and LO is head down and was head down at my 25w appointment too. Both my boys flipped to head down and stayed that way early on too.

My OB does an u/s at each appointment, but hasn't estimated her size since the a/s. He said he would check her size at my next appointment (32w).

  • My baby's been transverse at my last couple ultrasounds, but at this point they're still flipping around a lot. Maybe breech this morning but head down this afternoon. My LO makes me feel seasick at night with all the rolls and flips.

Babies typically turn and stay head down between 32 and 37 weeks, but they've been known to turn the day mom goes into labor! I wouldn't be worried at this point, but if LO is still breech in a month, maybe consider seeing a chiropractor to help her flip. You can also spend some time each day down on all fours, rocking your pelvis back and forth (sounds super sexy, I know...). That can help guide baby into an optimal position.

Totally this! At my (21 week) A/S last week they said my baby was 1lb 1 oz (66th percentile) and at the beginning of the scan the baby was breech and by the end of the scan the baby had flipped!
Even though you are further along than I am, like the tech said - it is still too early to worry about this!

  • My next scan is at 32 weeks to check growth and position. I can't wait to see if she will be in the head down position..
  • Funny, I was going to post a similar question! I've been curious about whether or not people know what position baby's in. I'm 99% sure mine is head down, because her hiccups are in my pelvis, exactly where my son's were when he was head down.

I had an ultrasound at 24 weeks and she was head down then... I don't think she's flipped since. I still feel most movement below my belly button, so I don't know where her feet are, exactly. Maybe curled into my side, since I get lots of movement there, too.

  • Baby girl's been breech since the anatomy scan. I haven't had an u/s since then, but she spends her day dancing on my cervix and kicking my bladder, so I'm fairly confident in my nonscientific analysis.

My doctor said it was too soon to worry also. Which I believe 95%. 5% I'm terrified because none of my mom's kids flipped...

  • My LO breeches and rights himself on what feels like a daily basis. Between having an anterior placenta and regular ultrasounds I can tell where his legs are "blocked" by the placenta when he's in proper position, an where they are free.  From that, and seeing & feeling his kicks & punches on u/s when he's breech, I have a pretty good idea of when he's in each position.

During my u/s on Monday he was breech, 2 weeks ago he was head down, 2 weeks before that breech, etc. etc.  No one is the least bit concerned at this point.

  • I'm 29 weeks tomorrow and just had an u/s this past Tuesday. They said her head was to my right side and her feet were to the left side of my uterus. They also said that she was measuring in the 58 percentile for size. My babies are always big (8.8, 9.15 & 8.10) so I was a bit concerned but relieved? I'm really taking it with a grain of salt though because they did a growth scan for dd1 and sized her A LOT smaller than what she actually was (9.15!) so they can definitely be off with trying to measure size via u/s.

  • My next scan is at 32 weeks to check growth and position. I can't wait to see if she will be in the head down position..
  • My LO has been head down and really low- ouch. I only know because they've ordered U/S at every appt for an unrelated reason ( clotting disorder). I never knew if my girls were "in position" this early but they were both head down and ready to go when needed .

  • My little man was head down at 23 weeks, transverse at 24 weeks, breech at 25 1/2 weeks, and I believe he is transverse again at 27 weeks. (We will find out on Monday)

  • No clue where mine is. My current doctor does another ultrasound at 30 weeks, but I'm changing OBs because I'm moving and the new one doesn't do them after the a/s. Is this scan normal?

  • My lo was head down and right on top of my cervix at my last two ultrasounds at 19 and 23 weeks. They did estimate his size at both of them. At 23 weeks they said he was around 1lb 5 oz. I don't remember if they gave me a percentile or not, but they seemed pleased with his size.
  • I have no idea what position my baby is in now. With my last pregnancy he turned head down somewhere between 32 and 35 weeks and stayed head down...right past my 39 week appointment. Somewhere between my 39 week and 40 week appointment he turned into a frank breech position.

  • My LO is all over the damn place. But mainly her head is on the left side of my bellybutton. I'm sure there's a medical term for that but I don't know it.

  • Both of my babies were breech/traverse at my MFM visit on Monday.

To answer your question @Nicb13 My OB and MFM have been checking size and growth since week 16. So about every three weeks. But I have a feeling that is more because of them being twins.

With DS1 I only had growth information given to me at the a/s and then around 34 weeks for our growth scan. They had to do an u/s at 38 weeks because he still had not turned and they did a weight prediction then. It was off by about 1.5lbs

  • I had an ultrasound last week at 24w6d and she was 1 lb 12 oz and the 60th percentile. She's also had her head buried down into my pelvis every ultrasound and I feel kicks up above my belly button. Don't worry if your baby is breech, there's still plenty of time for her/him to flip!

  • At 24 weeks baby girl was breech. Wednesday, at almost 28 she was head down.
We have been going for monthly growth scans due to my history since 19-ish weeks. Again on Wednesday she measured 2lbs 9oz which puts her in the 46th precentile(27w5d) My belly is measuring 30 weeks though.

  • At my A/S at 22 weeks baby boy was in the 55th percentile (can't remember exact weight). I had a midwife appointment last Friday at almost 29 weeks and he was head down. I suspect he's been that way for awhile, because his most spastic movements are all mid- and left-upper stomach, and my midwife said his butt was to the right and legs to my left. I can definitely feel his headbutts to my bladder. She even directly my hand to feel the head, but when I try to figure it out it just feels like a bag of elbows everywhere, so who knows.

I think it's too early to worry about a breech baby. Some flip and stay, but plenty of breech babies turn just before delivery. Your little one has lots of time to get into position.

  • Lol, a bag of elbows @ADH0906‌.

At my appt last week, doc felt that baby girl was head down. And that made sense bc the hardest kicks are across the top of my abdomen.

Many of my yogi friends swear that the cat/cow postures will move and keep baby head down. Couldn't hurt.

If I hadn't seen this kid on a few scans by now, I'd swear he was all feet and fists. It's been a month or so since my last u/s (next growth scan at the MFM is Wednesday!), but at the last one he was breech. At 18 weeks he was head down. Lately it feels like he's all over the place. The only spot I don't feel much thumping is in the middle of my right side, where I think my placenta is.

  • My baby is currently breach as well. They told me this wasn't a concern til 30-32 weeks also. My Docs office does a 3rd Trimester ultrasound to check for positioning to that is really reassuring. DS was never breach through the pregnancy so when they told me LO was breach this time I was concerned until were reassuring about it.

  • I think mine is head down. The strongest kicks I feel are in my upper right abdomen below my rib cage. And I THInK I may have felt her little bum around there yesterday too! I have my growth ultrasound in 3 weeks at my 32week appt. can't believe the 30s are starting next week!!
  • Fetus(yes, thats what we call her- read my intro for explanation, other than the obvious) has ben breech my entire pregnancy. From my understanding its absolutely normal since there is so much room in there.

  • I only 27 weeks but at my ultrasound Thursday she was head down. She has been that way for all of my ultrasounds. I've felt some strange rolling though so I don't think she's always been head down. You still have some time for him to turn and turn back and turn again lol.

My friends baby was transverse on the day she went into labor and they did some massaging and had her lay on certain position to get him to turn head down and he did. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

  • Baby is transverse most of the time.  DS1 was breech at 34 weeks, we tried a version to get him to move with no luck.  My water broke a week before my scheduled c/s and they verified he was still breech before confirming I still needed a c/s.
