NBR: TDAP (whining)

So I had the whooping cough vaccine yesterday because my OB wanted me to pass on the immunity to the baby (or however that works) and my arm is killing me! I've been up since 2 am and it's 6 am now (watched the last few episodes of OITNB on the iPad in bed). Is it really supposed to hurt this much or ami just THAT much of a baby? Lol...sorry, just felt like whining...

I got mine Tuesday and I still can't lift my arm beyond my shoulder. Oh, the pains we go through as mothers.

I got mine last Friday and it was still a bit sore on Monday. I convinced the midwife to just go ahead and give DH his while we were at my appointment, so he got a surprise vaccination and was just as uncomfortable... misery loves company

Damnit- you're making me dread my appointment tomorrow. As if chugging the orange sugar isn't torture enough! @ADH0906 Good call on suggesting DH also get his! I think I'll follow you on that one...

I'm sorry you're so uncomfortable - IM injections are the worst. For anyone who hasn't had it yet, the nurse told me to always make sure they put a new needle on after the vaccine is drawn up. She said some crystals will form on the needle while drawing it up, which can tear some muscle and make the injection site more painful after.

Got mine at my appointment today. I always make sure I tuck my arm behind my back because it forces the muscle where they inject to relax. Yes, it's still going to hurt. Not looking forward to that working 12 hour shifts all weekend long.

My arm was just mildly sore after my TDAP shot. The flu shot I got last year was much more painful than usual, though.

I had mine on Monday- and I hardly felt anything. No soreness, nothing. Now I'm wondering if they did it right!! I'm just going to consider myself lucky, for once, I guess. DH and FIL still need to get theirs...

just got mine today. She told me to massage the area and/or move my arm around like I'm stretching if it hurts. I remember getting it a few years ago and being sore for a few days.
I was suprised at today's visit when she told me to get this. I didn't know it was coming.

For those who haven't gotten it yet, ask them not to inject into your dominant arm.

Wish I knew all these tips! The nurse didn't share any tips. I did force myself to sleep in it a bit last night though and I've been trying to move my arm more and it does seem better. Good luck to all who still need to get it! I was told I'll need to go back in late August for the flu shot too... Scared.

Yup. Even though I had one in 2011 the dr wanted me to get another one around 28 weeks just to pass along some of the immunity to the baby when he or she is born.
