Pregnant after a Loss

Prodromal labor

I have been for 3 days now with mild pain and some weird contractions... I called my doc and after a quick check he told me I was having prodromal labor. I googled it and it looks like I am in the early stages of labor, but it is not getting me anywhere. They are 1-2 hours apart and they don't get closer or  more painful, they are just plain annoying. And it's being 3 days now!!! I tried a few tips to stop them but so far nothing has worked for me (they can go on for days even weeks). Any tips or advice? I am scheduled for a C-sec the 29th. I hope I can make it!!!

Re: Prodromal labor

  • I'm afraid I don't have any tips. It sounds frustrating, especially since you have the c/s scheduled. Normally, I'd say hooray, your body is gearing up to do what it needs to whenever that is, but you don't really want it to gear up, it sounds like. Did your dr offer any ideas? I hope it eases up soon!

My doctor only said to go to the hospital in case that they intensify or get closer together....or my water breaks. I am a bit nervous because I had an emergency c-sec with my son that got stuck in my pelvis, that's why this time around there is no choice (My mum and grandma also were diagnosed with a "flat pelvis" and both needed c-sec).

I was in prodromal labor with DS for over a week. Unfortunately, I don't have any good advice for dealing with it. The only thing that really helped was chilling on the couch and drinking a lot of water. That didn't stop it, just calm it down a little.
Same here... Oh well it is just 10 more days...  :(

  • I'm sorry I can't type much as I'm holding my rainbow..... But I just had prodominal labor for SEVEN days. I ended up being induced. My midwife was pretty convinced that nothing would really "start my real labor" without help. It only took a 1/4 dose of cytotec and bam!!! Full blown labor. In sorry, I truly 100% know how bad it sucks!!!! Just hang in there and I swear to you there is a beautiful rainbow at the end of the tunnel!!

  • I had never heard of it before reading @CaitNMatt 's labor story. It's good to know this can happen. I hope things really start to progress for you, @voplo!

I've never heard of it until the doctor told me! What the heck. Still, I am lucky since they are not too painful, but I am not getting a good sleep at all. I keep waking up ever 1-2 hours with an urge to go to the bathroom and the belly quite tight. Nine days to go...

  • When I preterm labor with ds. To stop contractions they told me at least gallon of fluids and to rest as much as possible. With feet up. I know a little different circumstances ! Good luck!
