I'll admit. I didn't realize there was a difference before coming to D14. But, now I do and I am so very careful with the words I choose to use. I even have a transgender friend, but had no clue that there was a difference between the terms sex vs gender, as she transitioned before we met, so it was never a discussion. She was just always a she to us. Because of many of you, we are rewording our Gender Reveal and we are letting our DS throw a small Sex Reveal party for his grandparents. He now knows what the sex of a person is vs how they feel on the inside. At least he won't be as ignorant as I have been all these years!
There were a few posts the other day that were stating that some people still don't understand the difference. Well, I came across the following video and it was pretty impactful. It's from the mother of a child who transitioned at the age of 6. So, yeah, the difference between sex vs. gender? It's so important.
The video is about 6 minutes long, but worth it!
