Pool floatie question

LO is 10 weeks old and we are taking him to pool next week. He's really big for his age. Over 15 lbs and has pretty good head control already. Is there any floatie device you recommend for pool? We obviously will hold onto LO at all times. Thanks!

I thought 4 months? There is a swim school near me that does mommy & me swimming and it starts at 4 months.

Pediatrician said it's fine. Said don't stay in all day or anything and it may dry out skin a little. We won't have him in long. But ped said it's fine.

My pedi said she could swim now at my 2 month appt. She said be careful about sun (she doesn't recommend sunscreen until 6 months), and to rinse her after she gets out of the chlorine. I'm looking forward to taking her, b/c she loves floating in the bathtub.

@jennish11‌ At our 1 mo appt our pediatrician said we could take DD into the pool as long as we used common sense and kept her shaded and took her out if we noticed shivering. The chlorine wasn't an issue, just temp and sun exposure.

Our pedi said it was fine too. As long as he has sun protection and isn't in the heat too long. Oh and to not let his head go under. Duh

I forgot to ask this yesterday at our 2 month appointment. We are going to great wolf lodge (indoor water park) at the beginning of August. LO will be 12 weeks then. Since it is inside we don't have to worry about sun but I was worried about him getting cold. They keep it at 82 degrees all the time so I'm thinking it should be ok. What do you plan on doing for diapers? My MIL bought him a suit with a built in diaper. But if he poops (which he does a lot) won't it leak out into the pool?

@Haleighkay90‌ yep I bought that for LO the 4th of July and he loved it! I propped him up inside inside of putting his legs through the holes and he just sat and enjoyed me moving him around in the water! I could put a little water on him so he wasn't drenched and it was perfect! We will be using this all summer!

Tifers777 haylo33 - I bought disposable swim diapers and will use one with the fabric swim diaper (even though the tag says you don't need to.) My neighbor said her pool requires both. I think I would feel safer with both! I would hate to be the person who clears out the pool! Haha!! This fabric one I bought was a size small and it says 10-18 lbs so I think that will work. But the disposables I found were small and it says 16-26 lbs and that will probably be a little too big right now. They were Huggies Little Swimmers. Anyone know if they sell extra small?

I wouldn't waste your money at this age. Just hold them for the short time they'll be in the pool.

Chlorine is perfectly fine at this age. Beb started parent and me swim at 3 months.

This. And a life jacket is the safest. But i don't know if they go that small.

just a heads up about swim diapers (both disp and cloth) - the ONLY hold poop, not pee! So put them on right before going into the pool, and then change back into a regular dipe as soon as you get out. We prefer the cloth bc you can get one from walmart for less than the price of a pack of disposables and they last way longer!

and yeah some pools have weird rules about what kind of dipe is acceptable - good call on checking that out!
