sleep help please

Sleeping topic any help would be great! any advice to help her sleep better. im at a loss.

We are having a couple of issuse. She has just now started to roll over (a little late yes). When we put her in her crib awake she just rolls over and sits up. What do we do about this?

She also keep waking up in the night around 4am, then wants to be picked up. or like last night she was awake for a couple of hours before we gave in and put her in our bed.

She is also not sleeping well at all. Today she didnt want to nap. It took and hour to get her down and she only slept 30 mins. This happened again for the afternoon nap. This has been going on for about a week.

Re: sleep help please

  • You don't wan advice from me, because that sounds good compared to how my guy sleeps.

That said, I think this might be a bit of a phase. It seems like what you're describing has been popping up on the board every week or so lately. So know you aren't alone.

  • I don't have much advice. I do know that DS sleeps better when it's warmer (he's still wearing the thick footie pjs and I set the temp inside at 77) and if he eats yogurt before bed (full belly and all). Otherwise I think it's a phase. I'm kind of a firm believe in not caving in. There is a time when you know for sure that the baby will not go back to sleep and when they just "want" to be awake but can fall asleep. I know every baby is different, so I'm pretty sure this long post is worthless.... But maybe not ;)

  • Whenever Anna learns a new trick, she has a hard time sleeping - maybe rolling over is like that for your LO? We just try to be consistent and keep the routine, and it's always over in two weeks, often much earlier.

As for the 4am waking, she is still in our room (bed) so when she wakes, we cuddle her. I have stopped nursing her at night, so even when she says "meeelk, meeeeeeelk!!" I just say "We don't have milk in bed, night night" once and then ignore it. If she wakes up after 6, we get up, but if it's before that, we just lay in bed and keep laying her back down. It took a while but she got it, and if she wakes up now, she mostly just rolls over.

  • she can not lay back down once sitting. last night she was sitting up screaming and as soon as I picked her up she fell back asleep. we are so tired. sigh.
  • No help here because I have never had success laying her down awake. I also nurse her whenever she wants. She goes back to sleep easier that way.

  • I have found that lo's sleep gets crazy when he learns something new. The last few weeks have been tough and now he is walking and settling back into our routine. I second what everyone else said stay in your routine and hopefully sleep will come back. Having said that we get up at 4:45 every day but it's better than 4 am!
  • Vinny is always a hot mess at night when he learns something new.......or is teething. Between the two we rarely get a full nights sleep. The other night he was up 4 times and at one point just staring at me while rocking him. They go through so much development that their brains sometimes just don't want to turn off. It sucks but just think in no time we all will complain they are sleeping until 11am and won't get outta bed.
