Stay at Home Moms

Family visit wwyd?

DH's Dad and Step mom are coming for a visit, staying a few days. Our guest bedroom only has a double bed and I feel bad putting them in a double bed. Should I put them in our bed or am I over thinking it? The only kicker to them taking our bed is that the kids get up early and go and watch tv in the room right beside our bedroom, and I'd hate that the kids would wake them that early.

Re: Family visit wwyd?

  • I don't see an issue with putting people in a double bed. I mean, it's tighter than ideal, but hardly problematic. MIL and FIL share a double bed and have never had anything bigger!

A double bed isn't huge for two people but it's only a few nights, right?  It's better than paying for a hotel ;)

This. I wouldn't worry about it since it is a double.

  • DH and I have a double. Trust me, it's fine. I've never once felt badly for putting guests in the double in the guest room either.

Then again, we just had a houseful of company. And SIL and BIL slept on a twin. (We did offer them a double, but they liked the location of the single better. So that's what they used.)

  • I think a double is totally fine, unless maybe they're large people. My parents have slept in a double their entire married lives!

I think they'd be fine in a double bed.  I always get really weirded out when people give up their own bedroom for me...I'm much more comfortable in a separate space.  I don't know why and maybe it's just a me thing.
I was actually kinda weirded out by the thought of other people in my bed too. I'm pretty sure they know what's gone on in there.

    This. Definitely not just you.
  • We have a double. We fit well. Sometimes it has me, DH, Z, & both pups in it.
