I always thought 20 mins was the general guideline for pumping, no over or under (unless you've pumped what you need too)
Since I don't pump all that often though I've started to keep the pump on (as long as kids permit) while milk is still flowing so I can get as much as possible and pump less!
What's the 20 minute guideline for? To prevent oversupply?
The max I can pump at work is 20 minutes. I still have milk coming out but I'm already using an hour of each day between my 3 pumps. I was able to pump for 25 minutes once on Friday and I didn't get much more than I usually get so I think I get the max anyway.

I usually do about 10 minutes, or about one minute of no milk. I apparently have a really strong let down, because in 3 sessions of that, I go home with just about double what what she takes in bottles... This happened with DD1 as well. Mixed blessing.
I pump until empty. the length varies by how full i am and time of day. Morning is 20-30 min and usually about 9oz. Night time is usually around 10-15 min and 6oz or less.
Is it bad that I only pump for 5-7 minutes? I only pump occasionally to build somewhat of a stash. I'm definitely not empty but I have paranoia about not having enough milk for LOs next feeding.
I pump what is needed - if I were to pump for the full 20 or until I was empty, I'd end up with such an oversupply! I tried doing that for a few weeks at work, and found out that weekends were awful - my boobs would be so sore and full by the end of the weekend that poor Aiden was getting flooded and I was ridiculously uncomfortable.
I pump for two full let downs, which is usually 10 to 11 minutes, but at some pumping sessions can be 7 or 8. With DS I would pump for 3 let downs, but that last one takes a long time to achieve and doesn't produce much milk. Right now I pump 3 times a day at work and spend 30 minutes a day pumping. If I were to wait for that last letdown, I would have to cut out a pumping session and would end up with less milk overall.

I exclusively pump and I pump 5 times per day. I follow a schedule I found on this website - exclusivelypumping.com. She suggests that if you are trying to reduce your number of pumps in a day that you try to pump for 2 hours total. So what I do in my situation is the first pump of the day at 6am and the last pump of the evening at 10pm is 30 minutes and the rest are 20. I really always get milk the entire time I'm pumping, sometimes it just slows to a trickle by the end. I do the longer pumps at those times b/c my schedule is 6am, 9am, 12pm, 4pm and then 10pm, so there is the longest interval in time between the first and last pumps, ergo I get more during those sessions.
I make more milk then I know what to do with, so I pump till I get about 5-6 ounces which takes about 5 minutes. I am also feeding primarily "from the tap" (lol) so I only pump about once a week or so.
My milk stops flowing after about 7 minutes and that includes 2 let downs. I only pump 1x/day in the morning after DS eats and get about 4 oz. If I am pumping to replace a bottle I still only get about 4 oz. I go back to work in a month and am very curious to see what I can pump during the work day.

I EP and pump 4-5 times per day for 15-20 minutes. Milk is still flowing at that point, but I don't want to stimulate more milk production since my current pumping practice yields more than enough to meet LO's daily intake.

Gosh if I pumped until the milk stopped i would be sitting here for 40+ min. I pump at work mostly and generally do 20-30 min depending on my schedule. I pump 3x per day at work and on weekends I usually only pump once in the morning. I have a big freezer stash which is why I don't pump at home.
Until empty or a few minutes after empty. Time varies, but I would say roughly 15 minutes per side. Amount varies greatly depending on time of day and time since last session, anywhere from 3 oz. to 11 oz. for one session.
