PUPPS help

I saw a post on another board about possible PUPPS..thought my info might help if you have PUPPS or get it...

I had it starting at 14 weeks with my last pregnancy. It was hell!  The more you itch, the more stressed you get or the hotter you get the worse they come.  I went to the derm. and they gave me a cream to use to help with the itching.  It doesn't go away until you deliver.  I actually delivered early...not because of the rash...the rash is superficial.  Doesn't do anything to the baby.  I was desperate to get relief from it.  I searched for natural healing from PUPPS and read that Grandpas Pine Tar Soap and drinking A LOT of V8 juice helped.  and it did.  I took a shower 3-4 times a day to lather up with the soap.  It smells like a campfire but it works.  I hate v8 juice but I downed it anyways.  I got the cans....low sodium...I drank 3-4 cans a day.  My PUPPS didn't go away till I was done lactating.  I read some people have it the whole time they nurse.

Re: PUPPS help

  • I would spend countless hours in the shower because it seemed to offer the most relief.  I used a tube of bendryl cream every day, plus my OB put me on oral steroids to try to help with the rash ( I had to stop those because it increased my blood glucose).  And the fact that they lasted for months with no real relief was awful.  I wouldn't wish them on anyone, I just hope i don't get them again with this one.

  • I had them last time as well and it was just awful. I too used an insane amount of Benadryl cream, but it did nothing. It was a miserable experience that lasted until about 6 weeks pp. Good luck to anyone dealing with it.
