OMG Sleep Help

HI Mommas,

Looking for some input.  All last week, and so far this week my LO has been a nightmare for sleep.  The weekend before this started we were out of town, and she slept decently in a pack n play next to our bed.  Prior to this she was still waking up once in the middle of the night, nursing, and going right back to sleep til morning.

Now she is waking up 3-4 times a night screaming!  Most of the time she will not calm down for my husband.  She will get hysterical until she is making herself cough and gag until I let her nurse.  Last week I started whole cow's milk so I thought maybe that was it because she had previously been getting almond milk.  I also thought she might be teething because she was grabbing her mouth and sticking her fingers in there.

Well she hasn't had cow's milk for almost a week now, and I don't see any signs of teething, but she is still waking up at all hours of the night.  I'm not sure whats going on, but I am about to lose my mind.  Me and DH both work full time and its starting to affect us.  I am a zombie.

A couple times she has calmed down after she passed gas, but there is nothing new in her diet......

Any thoughts?

  • hmm I haven't thought about ear infections.  She very well may still be teething, but she's not great at letting me look in her mouth.  I'm guessing I should get her into the doctor.  I really hope its not tantrums!

  • My son has been fighting sleep for the last 2 weeks. His 8:00 bedtime has turned into a fight to get him to bed before midnight. Last night was the worst... He was up until 6th this morning. He just went a full 24 hours without sleep. His pediatrician explained to me that it's common to experience this sleep regression at 18 months. She said to keep your same bedtime routine no matter how frustrating it is. He should get through it in a month or two... sigh. Just in time for the new baby to get here.
  • Nothing new with her bedtime routine....guessing its a wonder week.  Apparently the 18 month sleep regression is a killer.  I'm guessing thats what it is.  Last night she was only up once so we'll see how tonight goes!

Just helps to hear we're not alone!

This is us exactly. This sleep regression is killing us. Last night she went down at 1am.

  • So glad you mamas mentioned the 18 month sleep regression. I totally didn't know about that. It's been terrible in the evenings trying to get DS down, and we thought it must have been something we were doing! I love this board for so many reasons--but mostly because you help keep me sane with these toddler ups and downs!
