TTC After a Loss

DH's reaction to the whole RE (clomid/IUI) situation...

So DH is pretty quiet about the whole TTC, m/c, T-TTC thing in general. He's supportive but he doesn't really talk about it (constantly) like I do. He wants a baby just as badly, but I think he feels bad bringing it up, like it might make me feel worse.

So anyway, I started talking to him yesterday about feeling hopeful after meeting with the RE, and how I was feeling like 2009 was going to be our year....and I said "aren't you excited?"

His response was that he's secretly crossing his fingers for twins, and that's what excites him the most about the clomid/IUI! He said if we were in the 5% to have twins, that would be "his lottery."

Well at least I know what he's thinking now! Big Smile

Honestly, twins scare me a little simply because of the increased risk. But at this point I agree that they would be a huge blessing!

  • Aww.. that is so sweet!!  I agree twins would be scary!   Sometimes it is funny how men internalize things and handle communication a little differently than we do.   Sometimes  it feels like they don't care because they dont talk about it like we do, but it isn't always the case at all.   :) Here is to hoping 2009 is your year!

  • That's great that he is excited.  I can't imagine having multiples, eve though I'm a twin.

  • My H isn't much of a talker so getting him to talk about TTC is hard. He will talk about it if I start the conversation or if we have just left the RE's office but that's it. Glad to hear he is excited about you going to the RE. Smile

  • Glad to hear he's being so supportive. It's always sad to hear about spouses not being supportive about the next step of ttc.

I too was concerned w/ the whole mulitples thing. Twins run in my family so I was a little concerned when I started taking clomid and then follistim. My re said it was only a 5% or 10% chance of having twins w/ these meds even if they ran in the family. Lots of good follicles but none leading to a live pg.

  • That's funny - my Dh said about the same thing, although he said he'd like either twins or triplets.... to just be done with it! I told him he was officially insane! But it was cute. My doctor told me that there is an 8% increase in the liklihood of multiples with clomid.... hmmm.... either way, I want it to work! Good luck!
  • That's a great reaction!  I was worried you were about to give bad news.  I actually want twins too!

  • DH says the same thing here!  We both agree that if we have twins, we'll be done.  However, the idea of twins scares the heck out of me!
