Diaper Bag Poll

What do you keep in your diaper bag? I am attempting to pack a bag and am totally clueless beyond Diapers, Wipes, Clothes, Pacifier, Blanket.

Re: Diaper Bag Poll

  • I kept formula and a spare bottle. Food once she got older.

  • Extra clothes, socks for both of us (the socks for me are because I always forget them when we go to one of those indoor play places), sunscreen, a snack,.....diapers.

  • Depending on the age of your baby, you really don't need much beyond what you listed.

  • Sorry, to clarify I meant as a newborn.
  • We have:

    1-2 cloth diapers and wipes
    Wet bag for dipes
    1 set of extra clothes
    Burp cloth
Receiving blanket for if I want to cover nursing
1 small toy (unnecessary for newborn)

  • If you are breastfeeding, add an extra shirt for yourself in addition to the extra outfit for baby.

  • if he/she is colicky you might want Ovol or Bio Gaia drops in there, too.
  • for a newborn we carried hand sanitizer, diapers (at least 2 per hour, just in case), wipes, two changes of clothes (three-four onesies), pacifier, diaper cream (never used), thermometer, winter hat (newborn was born in winter), light blanket (wrapped baby in heavier blanket), musical/vibrating toy. I found that having the diaper bag packed and just adding the bottles filled with water and the formula dispenser as we were leaving, was a great help. when we would get home, if time allowed I would restock the bag.

  • I just saw read back and saw that it was for a newborn...oops. Pretty much the same stuff I listed minus the sunscreen, solid foods and toy, my baby was born in the winter so I had a winter hat and small blanket. I also threw a few ready to feed formulas and empty bottles in because at the time my baby would like to snack between full feedings and it was easier to measure out the ready to feed formula better than the powder.
