8 weeks apt worried bec doctor didn't see anything

Today was my first prenatal apt at 8 weeks and I was hoping to hear it or see something to make things feel more real. I went to get an ultra sound and the doctor said she couldn't see anything. I've read online that this could be a miscarriage or just too early. I haven't had Any cramps or bleeding so I am just hoping it's too early. I go back next week to check. I don't know what I will do if I lost my baby... Plz someone tell me a positive outcome!

I skipped it several times for because of the title. But OP I'm hoping for the best for you. There are a few things that could be at play. How sure are you that you are 8wks? Were you temping? Just going off LMP without positive ovulation date could cause your week estimation to be off. Did you have an abdominal US or Transvaginal? I assume your dr did a Transvaginal since you were only 8wks. If it was a vag ultrasound and nothing was found, that doesn't make me too optimistic because you would have to be off by about 3wks on ovulating in order to validate "it's too early to see something". I would hope for the best but prepare for the worst to help process this all. Again, I'm hoping you have a great update next week.

In pretty positive I am 8 weeks and she did an abdominal ultra sound bec tech was not there to do a vaginal. I hope to do a vaginal one next Thursday. So fingers crossed that it was just too soon today.

Its hard to see anything with an abdominal scan at 8 weeks, which is why PP assumed it should be transvaginal. T+P to you but I wouldn't worry too much.

@Hannah1044‌ I just went in today for an ultrasound! I'm 8w 3d an they could only see a flicker off the heart doing it on my belly! She then did a transvaginal and you could see the baby perfectly. Your just to early to see the baby from your belly! Hope for the best next week and don't worry to much!

It's tough to see anything with an abdominal u/s at 8 weeks. I'm really surprised your dr did one that early. Hopefully they'll do a transvaginal u/s next week. T&P for good results next week!

Yeah I can tell you first hand, at 11 weeks the er pushed my abdomen SO FREAKING HARD (obviously it was difficult) but were able to do the ultrasound abdominally. Fx for you and a better result at your next appt.

I just had an ultra sound at 8 wks and the doc ended up doing a transvaginal bc they couldn't find anything with the abdominal. They found the little raspberry with the trans. Ultrasound. I freaked when she couldn't find anything, that's terrible you have to wait another week. I hope everything works out for you and you get to see the little one next week! I had a vaginal ultrasound at 7 weeks and my doctor only found an empty sac. He pushed for a d&c but I decided I wanted to miscarry naturally. I went to get a second opinion at 8 weeks and they found baby and heartbeat measuring right on track. Everything is great now. My outcome is the less likely of the two but don't give up hope! Google misdiagnosed miscarriage. Not seeing anything on the ultrasound before 10 weeks is more common than you'd think, especially if you have a tilted uterus. (I do not, but most women that this happens to do.)

I am 11 wks and the exact same thing happened to me! What they do is calculate your date my your missed period and a lot of times they think your farther along than you really are! I went and nothing went back the next week and everything was fine heartbeat was 145 and fine! T & P hope your case is the same

Shame on your doctor for not explaining that might be perfectly fine and that abdominal was a toss up at this early stage. I would call them right now - and tell them exactly what you are telling us and ask for some answers.

FX it was just too early...that's probably the case. FYI - I thought trans vaginal was no fun, BUT the pics you get are sooooo clear!! Way better than an abdominal. They had to do an abdominal for me at 10 weeks because they scheduled my 2nd appt way too early and couldn't pick up the heartbeat on doppler. Good news, MORE pics! But, you can barely see the Bean in those.

FX for you! When I went to my first appointment last week my OB thought I was around 10 weeks based on LMP. I was tracking, temping, using OPKs and I was certain I was around 8 weeks. When she couldn't find the HB on the doppler she brough in the little mobile u/s machine they have. They don't have the ability to do a vaginal u/s in the office. It took her a minute, and I had to lie really flat and still, I couldn't move at all. She said my uterus was really tilted, but she was able to see a little something. I couldn't see anything becuase she didn't want me to move. I'm going to do a vaginal u/s Monday just to confirm everything is good.

So, it may very well be too early to see it on the abdominal u/s. Will definitely keep my FX for you!
