Bottle Feeding Both Babies

How do you guys feed both babies? We're bottle feeding, so do you find it's easiest to put both in their bouncers or something and feed both at the same time? It seems feeding one after the other, even right after the other, takes that much longer. We're definitely doing OUBO so I'm trying to figure this all out to tell everyone (MIL, nanny, etc.) how we're dealing with the babies. Thanks!

Re: Bottle Feeding Both Babies

  • My twins aren't here yet but I am definitely following this thread for advice! I'm thinking about using the "twin z pillow" for this purpose- from my googling it looks like you can sit on the floor, maybe prop both of them in the pillow, and then hold two bottles, one in each hand, to feed them at the same time. Not sure on the logistics of this though.. or what happens when one needs to be burped and the other is still eating...

  • I plan to go with two Boppy's for the twins. I liked the Twin-Z but I think two Boppy's might be better so that the twins can face each other during tummy time and such.

  • When they were bottle fed, we put them in bouncers, sat in between the bouncers, and tandem bottle fed. I had a hard time w my oldest not taking a bottle (never from me), so it was important for them to be fed bottles, especially from me. I liked using the bouncer bc I didn't hold them like I was nursing so it was different for them.

  • Honestly, I feed them both at the same time with two boppies at night, and when/if they're both screaming to be fed during the day.  But, if possible, during the daytime I try to feed one at a time.  Yes, it takes forever, but I want them to get enough one-on-one time and attention with Mom.

Two Boppies. I tried the Twin Z but right now it's just too big for them. They got lost in the holes. The Boppies have worked great. I have also done one in a Boppy, the other in my arm/lap.

Like pp, I prefer one at a time so I have that close time and eye contact with them individually. But that's not always practical.

  • We also use two curved feeding pillows. I feed them both at the same time to start with then wait until they need a break and burp one while the other waits then burp the other twin. I then change both their bums and warm up the bottles and finish them off seperatly since the end of the bottle can be tricky together. Since they both aren't starving at that point they are happy to wait and tend to drink even more after the little break, it works great for us!
  • We have the Twin Z Pillow and I will put them in there and sit in front of them and feed them both while I pump. I also try to angle their heads together so I can use one hand to feed if I need to adjust or drink something.

  • When they were smaller I would put a blanket over the twin z pillow before putting them in it, so they wouldn't fall in those holes.

  • I would sit them in the bouncy chairs and lean against the couch on the floor. Worked well for me when I was alone.
Hope you find a way that works for you.

  • My girls are 11 weeks - we put each in their boppy on either side of us on the couch.  Then bottle feed both at the same time.  At night we do not do one up both up, but during the day we feed at the same time for both.  Sometimes, I will do a few extra feedings for my smaller girl.  But, for the most part, they are on the same schedule.

This is exactly what we do. I sit on the floor scoot up as close as I can and feed them both. When they where younger I would stop half way through the bottle and pick one up burp, burp the other and finish feeding. If it seemed like one needed to burp I would stop feeding them both and took that opportunity to burp them both one after the other. We only use the twin z at bedtime and when they still did overnight feedings. During the day I had 2 regular boppies. I'd put one on the couch next to me and one on my lap and tandem feed them.

  • I almost always feed them at the same time bc I also have a toddler. What works best for me in to sit on the couch or bed with my feet on chaise lounge, ottoman, bed (whatever) and legs bent so that one baby can sit reclined on my thighs and then I put that other in a boppy next to me and adjust so the position is comfortable for me. I used to use two boppys but I like lap/boppy better. I only burp at the end when they are done.
  • Another mom of multiples recommended this for me, so I bought it. Not due til 8/12 w the twins but heard great reviews. https://buytablefortwo.com
  • Anyone have any luck feeding at the same time with totally different eating styles? DS needs to burp every 5-6 min or else he projectiles 1-1.5oz everywhere and if DD gets interrupted too often she won't eat as much. I've tried doing Boppys and RnPs but both seem to get too frustrated and end up both screaming. So...we do them individually. It does take forever though.
