Waking up hungry

I keep waking up in the night mainly due to being horribly uncomfortable & trying to work on that but also I wake up hungry! We eat dinner around 6-630pm and I don't feel all that hungry before bedtime but thinking I should start eating a small snack before I head to bed to avoid being hungry in the middle of the night. Anyone else experiencing this & if so what is a good snack to keep me satisfied thru the night?

Re: Waking up hungry

  • I wake up in the morning as usual with major hunger. I always have to make the kitchen my second stop, after peeing of course!

Late night snack I would suggest apple slices with peanut butter. I'm thinking the protein will help. Or make those frozen banana peanut butter slices, would be so great in the heat

  • I usually do a small bowl of cereal before bed. I feel like the milk helps a little with the god awful heartburn that has recently started.

I maybe absolutely wrong but I feel like I've been told milk makes heartburn worse, but if it works for you it works! Also I read an old wives tale that heart burn means baby will have a full head of hair :)
  • My naturopath has always recommended yogurt as a snack right before bed. It digests slowly as you sleep and lets you at least get out of bed and wake up before your starving.

I do notice a difference when I do eat it and when I don't.

  • I read a book on multiples pregnancy and it recommended dairy before bed - she said it will help you feel full throughout the night. I usually have a big glass of milk before bed. Even then, I woke up last night at 3am and had a bowl of Cheerios.

  • When DD was a newborn and I was bf'ing, I went to bed with an apple, granola bar and cheese for my bedside table that I ate in the night while I nursed.

I did this too, but with trail mix, roasted sunflower kernels or fruit.

  • I eat a Greek yogurt every night before bed. It's my dessert and my bedtime snack! If I don't, I wake up starving in the middle of the night.
