Today I heard my baby's heartbeat for the first time and it sounded like a train. Anyone believe in the old wives tales of train for boy and galloping horse for girl? X

Re: Baby heartbeats

  • While I have heard of fetal heart tones being described as either one of those things, I have never heard that one sound means one sex or another. With DD it sounded one way one time and the other another time.

I think you may have imagined this. A heart is a heart. Why would they sound different? I also have 2 boys and never thought it sounded like a train.

  • Never heard of this before either. To me baby's heartbeat could be described as either.
  • We heard our baby's heartbeat for the first time today too! I think they can sound different because girls tend to beat slower or so I read, even if it's not true it's fun to hear and guess based on old wives tales! I wish I read this before so I could have listened more closely just to play into it haha
