Ok so I wrote a little about MH's cousin's kid. Here is a little more...

He and this girl were only married like a year before she served him with papers, 4 months pregnant, on Christmas Day. There was no egregious act, she basically just said he was mean, she couldn't trust him, and didn't want to live in Florida away from her family any more.

So she gave this kid MH's cousin's last name. People who I have told this instantly say that he should ask for a paternity test.

I have been back and forth with my sympathies because I can understand a pregnant woman wanting what she thinks is best for her kid and wanting to be around family, but on the other hand this dude is a really good dude and would/will make a great dad.

This is turning into a vent, but does anyone care to comment on their take of the drama?

She's super weird, she's from a small town and a big family. She's a little bit older than the dude, and I don't think they ever really had a connection

Personally if I were him I would file for a DNA test. Better safe than sorry in my personal opinion.

I'm with you. Especially since it's very unlikely he will be able to be around a lot unless he moves to ohio. It's really bizarre to me that the kid has his name because they were barely married so she has no good reason to keep his name and, like I said, he lives in south Florida and she lives in central Ohio...

@WasNotWas‌ were they married when the baby was born? Because I think in some states the husband is automatically listed on the birth certificate...I think...so he may want to check into that just in case.

Honestly, I don't know. I know she filed before birth and I don't know if she delivered in FL or OH. I just don't know how to bring it up with the guy

@WorkinIt‌ how do I even bring it up? We will be visiting and I'm sure he will be just jazzed to see the kid. Maybe I will get him drunk...

Is she wanting child support? I might consider asking for a paternity test in that case.

@musicalsilver‌ good question. That adds to the strangeness of the situation. Right before they were married, all his friends and family discouraged him from getting married. He brought it up with her and she provided an itemized list of how much it would cost him to call off the engagement (including deposits and travel expenses). Who does that?

I think he is just excited to be a dad right now, I'm sure we will learn more this weekend
