Puppy scare...worst night of my life

I started to post about this last night to ask for T&Ps, but I was such a blubbery mess, I don't think I could form a string of words. My 3 year old dog got spooked by something outside last night around 8pm and ran through multiple yards, outside of our neighborhood. My husband, both of my parents, my SIL, and I searched for her until midnight. She was seen miles from our neighborhood near a very busy highway (Hwy 316 for my Ga folks). We through together some quick signs and spread them around before trying to sleep before starting over this morning. By some miracle and grace of God, when my husband was leaving for work at 5:30 this morning, he looked around the front and back yards and she was at our front door!
She's now currently snoozing in our bed after her first night ever having to "rough it".
I know there are many people who despise the term "fur baby", but she really has been my baby, especially since I thought through all our IF treatments that we may never have kids of our own. Not to mention, I like her more than most people I know

Re: Puppy scare...worst night of my life

  • Oh man @lhill88‌ that's really scary and I completely understand! I don't know what I would do if one of ours ran off like that. (Huskies don't come home) I had a scare of my own this morning.... My youngest jumped off our deck to go to the bathroom and we think another dog landed on him. Dog screams make me cry instantly. He's up and walking now but I had flashbacks to when my girl dislocated her hip and we went through months of surgery and rehab.

Internet hugs for you and your pup!

  • Oh no, that is really scary.  Last time I was pregnant my dogs always set off the waterworks for me.  I would cry over any little thing with them so I would be an absolute mess also.

I'm in GA too. 316 is a scary place for a fur baby to be. I can't imagine dealing with all that with all these extra emotions right now!

  • We have two fur babies and I know the kind of scare you had. One of my dogs is a blood hound and both of our dogs ran off. Our boxer came back around one in the morning but our blood hound didn't. I had a horrible time sleeping knowing she was out there. Got up went to work and she wasn't home still. About 9:00am our vet called and said that somebody had found her. I was so relieved!!
  • Aww, I understand. Our dogs are our life as well - couldn't imagine life without them.

    :x
