Sippy Cups and spitting water

Hi All

This is a two part question. Currently DD is using Nuby sippy cups/bottles. Lately, when she drinks water she will get a mouthful and slowly let it run out of her mouth. Is anyone else in this boat? Suggestions on getting her to stop? She is getting ready to start "school" soon and obviously, I would like for her to not do this there.

Second question is do you have any sippy cups that you "ABSOLUTELY" love? I need to buy some more since when she goes to school she needs 3 brought in every day.

All suggestions are welcomed, I am at a loss on the water spitting though!! :)

Re: Sippy Cups and spitting water

  • J does this all the time! Whenever he does it, I just take it away and say "no thank you"
I don't have any cups that I love to death. We have two nuby and one nuby with a straw. We also have one that looks like a monster but I don't know what brand it is.

DS use to do this as well. I am not sure what made him stop. Maybe a phase?

We use the Nuby straw ones. I don't love it or hate it. It serves it's purpose and DS can drink out of it.

ETA When he did spit out his drink I would shake my head and say We don't do that.

My guy does this, especially when he's not thirsty anymore. He does it more often in free flowing straw cups and sippy cups (like the lollacup and camelbak).

He doesn't do it at all though with the tommee tippee explora straw cup (this one) and the munchkin straw cup (this one)

They're both a pain to clean, but they draw the liquid back as soon as he stops drinking, so I think that's why it works.

(I can't get it to stop the underline!)

  • Jack did this for about 2 weeks and stopped. I think it is just a phase, I would keep giving the same cup. We use a straw cup that he loves.
