Love to Dream Swaddle

Has anyone tried this? It was recommended to me by a friend, but I want more reviews before dropping money on it. DD has been fighting the swaddle like crazy, but if I unswaddle her, her startle reflex and flailing arms are still too strong for her to sleep. She likes to have her hands up by her face, so I thought this might be a helpful solution until she can go without the swaddle. Any reviews are helpful! Thanks!

Re: Love to Dream Swaddle

  • I used it and the baby liked it for a while but now he gets frustrated because he really wanted to put his hands in his mouth (not just have them up).  We moved onto Merlin's Magic Sleepsuit even though he is not quite 3 months.

  • Thanks, @ellenz2014 - how is the Merlin's sleepsuit working for you? I also have that on my list, but my little gal (who is 3 months tomorrow) is small and those are technically too big for her weight (she'ls tall and skinny).
  • We've used it from the beginning. He loves it and sleeps really well. I just bought the 50/50 so I can start transitioning him out plus he needed the medium. He does sometimes want to eat his hands but just sorta does it through the material. Definitely worth the money for us!
  • @KatVan19 - I'd love to get the transition one, but it looks like it's for 13 pounds and up and DD, although 3 months, is only 11 pounds. Is there wiggle room in the sizes (she is tall and skinny) or are they pretty dead on?
  • I'm honestly not sure how much my LO weighs (I think around 12.5 lbs) but he's outgrowing the small in length as he's also pretty tall. I'd only buy the medium if I were you. Here's a picture of him in it. I think the main issue with being a bit big would be it moving up and suffocating but the neck area has always fit fine even when he was small so it never does.
  • Thank you! PS he's adorable.
  • @Rogue237 you described my little guy to the T! I haven't heard of this swaddle, but I am willing to try nearly anything as no one but the dogs are getting any sleep around here!
  • I really want to try this or the MM, but can't decide.

  • I know, I can't decide either. I don't want to drop more money on swaddles that don't work. I think I might try cold turkey starting this weekend and give it 5 days. If she's not sleeping by then I'll try either the love to dream or the Merlin's.
  • @Rogue237‌ I'm petrified to go cold turkey because he is 100% swaddled.

  • I haven't had luck with cold turkey, 3 days into it now. Googled the love to dream & it kinda just looks like the woombie. I did see the swaddle wings tho, those look promising. But ya, I've spent a ton on gimmicky swaddles already.
  • @mamrotu73‌ - you selling those on etsy yet?! ;)
  • @mamrotu73‌ - you've got PM!
  • @mamrotu73‌ , what would you charge to make one?
  • I think the love to dream swaddle would piss off my DS.  I had such high hopes for the woombie but his ability to move his arms inside the swaddle but not get them free was a recipe for sleep disaster. I have a feeling this swaddle would do the same.  I have continued to use the swaddle me summer swaddles and started putting one arm out.  It's working so far.  I'm curious to see how your babe does with the super cool pjs that @mamrotu73 are making for you!

  • @mamrotu73‌ well guess I'm going shopping for a snap tool! This is the 4th night of no swaddle & it's a nightmare yet again. Guess ill see if the arm snap contraption is gonna work for the beast! Fingers crossed!

@mamrotu73‌ please do (start an etsy shop). I suck at sewing.

    Ditto!

If anyone has the Aden and Anais muslin swaddle blankets you could try the Aussie swaddle they have directions on their site. Its been a great transition swaddle for us without actually having to buy another swaddle blanket. (You can also find a 'how to' on YouTube if the directions aren't clear enough)

@Nxy - I'll have to try that tonight. We use Aden and Anais muslin swaddle blankets with the happiest baby on the block swaddle now and she busts out of it no matter how secure it is. Maybe the hands being up would help.

Totally gonna give this a shot tonight too! We did towels under the sheet on either side of LO last night to mimic a snug feeling & that worked out ok. He was up every 2 hours instead of every 1.5! I also fell asleep with him in the rocker & he slept 2 hours straight like a champ, I woke up with kinks evetywhere tho!

  • Swaddling with one arm out didn't last long.  He doesn't startle himself awake, he stretches and rubs his face, knocking out his paci.  That is what wakes him up.  Both arms are back in the swaddle. Ugh, it's going to be hard to transition!  He wants his arms free so much but doesn't use them responsibly for good sleep.

  • @mamrotu73‌ - Can I know the cost too? And also how long will it take to arrive? I am in San Diego, CA.
  • I did the Aussie swaddle last night, got a 4 hour stretch right off the bat! 4 hours is unheard of here! Had such high hopes, but it totally went to shit after that, royal scream fest for an hour resulting in a swing night. Back to the zippadeezip tonight, doing slightly better about not starting himself awake, but I'm currently on the 2nd wake up with probably 2-3 more to go, ugh.....

@LoriMc12 - totally my problem too. And I tried the Aussie swaddle and all she did was rub her face so much that she couldn't sleep. A regular swaddle was resumed. Back to the drawing board.
  • We did the zippadeezip again last night & he was down like a champ for about 3-4 hours the first stretch! Then it was every hour after that All. Night. Long! From 1130 on I was up every hour to sooth back to sleep with the paci or gently swinging. For some reason he just won't settle properly after that first stretch no matter what we do! Oh, we are also using 2 towels rolled up on either side of him under the sheet to kind of snuggle him, it seems to help some.

How much is your LO sleeping during the day?
  • @Rogue237‌ he doesn't sleep as much as I would like! He does about an hour in the morning while I am doing the stroller strides workout. Then he gets maybe another hour later in the day, normally during the evening news. He does get the odd cat nap in the car seat and the carrier if we take the dogs hiking in the afternoon. I would guess he gets a total of 3-4 hours during the day.
