Bed rest for 20 weeks

Hi my name is Whitney. I'm 19 weeks pregnant with twin boys :) the day before yesterday I started bleeding and went to the hospital. They had to stop my contractions twice. They did an ultrasound before sending me home. Everything looked good. My cervix is still thick and long. Babies are growing perfect and healthy. I do have a low placenta that is the cause of the bleeding. I am now on strict bed rest. Just praying these sweet boys will stay put for quite a while longer!!

Re: Bed rest for 20 weeks

  • That's so scary! I'm glad everything looks okay.

Thinking of you and your boys and hoping they stay put! Now, get caught up on that Netflix queue! ;)

  • So sorry your having issues hopefully the bedrest is just the thing you need to keep babies healthy for the coming months. I did bedrest with my DS starting at 19 weeks its hard but well worth it in the end.

  • Oh dear! Praying for you and your boys! I'm also on a modified bed-rest at 16 weeks for HBP complications. Hoping all works out just fine! Take good care of yourself! :-)
  • So glad to hear everything is looking ok.  I'm sure bed rest won't be easy, but I'm sure those handsome little guys will make it all worth it once they arrive -- in December!  (I believe in the power of positive thinking!) Good luck!

  • How long have you been on bed rest??
  • I also have a hematoma on baby a's placenta. But I'm think like all of you. The bed rest will fix it all. :)

This is my 4th day... It's already been a challenge because I've been an active full time working mom of 2 (14 & 11) and wife. I'll tell you these blogs have really helped and family visits are nice, especially when they bring ice cream lol

Happy to hear that everything is okay with you and your little ones. Very sorry that you'll be on bed rest but there is netflix, hulu, and of course TB to keep you entertained! Sending well wishes your way.

  • Scary but glad to hear that babies are doing well! Looks like its time to find some hobby like knitting or watch a lot of shows you've wanted to see.

  • Oh no!  Best wishes.  I would be getting caught up on my Netflix and Hulu shows/movies.

  • I had a significant bleed at 14 weeks w/ my complete PP and was put on bed rest for 5 days. I'm now 20 weeks and baby is still doing great. Like you my cervix and fluid and baby looked great. Unfortunately with placenta previa (PP) bleeds happen. Most of the time it works perfectly for mama and baby, they just come a little earlier. Follow doctors orders and keep us posted. PPs have been known to move, especially if they are marginal or partial (drs haven't given me much hope since mine is complete and posterior).
  • I'm so sorry to hear about your bed rest, Im glad to hear that your boys are okay. December will get here soon enough
  • Best of luck to you. Glad that despite the circumstances your boys are healthy.

  • Thank you everyone for such positive words :) doing nothing is super boring but hey I have a dr appt Monday :) that is what I live for these days anyways :)
  • I'm glad your Dr.s are keeping an eye on things, and that you and your baby boys are ok.  If you haven't already checked it out, the High-Risk board on here has a "Bed Rest Check-in" for other mamas who are on bed rest for various reasons.  It might be a good source of support for you, and give you some ideas on how to make the best of a difficult situation!
