Trouble TTC

Migraines vent

I am prone to headaches and they can be pretty brutal. My doc has me in a daily pill to reduce the headache and a pill to take when I get one. Well he has been juggling me around on different medicines for my daily migraine suppressant and I swear this last one he has me on it causing them to be more frequent and worse. Just a vent I guess I have no clue what to do. Should I take my migraine relief (kind of trying not to just to help keep the chemicals in my body to a min) I feel like I really can't just suck it up I am so sick from these migraines.

Re: Migraines vent

  • Have you tried any dietary changes with the migraines? I know friends who have found relief eliminating certain things from their diets: bananas, caffeine, dairy. It might be helpful to figure out if there are things that trigger them. I would think the stress and pain you would face not taking the meds might be counterproductive to keeping the chemicals out of your body. I know this sounds strange, but have you tried acupuncture or essential oils with your migraines? I am lucky to not get them daily, but when I do get them they are usually due to sleep disturbances, hormone fluctuations, and stress. I'm sorry you are going through this, I know migraines can be very debilitating.

  • I actually have insomnia. But I stopped taking the sleeping pills it's a long story. The doc keeps switching around everything and actually had me taking two medicines that were too similar and I went into serotonin toxicity. It's been a mess. The doc thinks the headaches are caused by either the insomnia or my AF. BUT I have been looking into acupuncture. I was suppose to see my doc today but (and other long story) he just had a nurse come out and talk me thru getting me referral fixed and sent to an RE since my last one closed his business right before my first apt. I go in on the 30 for yet an other long line of blood work and while I am there I was hoping to get a referral to see someone for acupuncture. I am so glad to see someone else bring it up. It makes me feel a little less crazy for wanting to try it.

Have you researched anything about essential oils? I've heard wonderful things about them from friends that have used them for simple things like recurring sinus infections, stomach ailments, aches and pains. Maybe something like that could help you too?? I have PCOS and have been doing some research on using essential oils to help regulate hormones and reduce symptoms. Haven't ordered anything yet, figured I should talk to my doc......plus, some of the oils recommended were a little pricey for my budget. Just another avenue to check out! Good luck, headaches completely SUCK.

That is an amazing idea. No I haven't even thought if that!!! Where do I even start looking into that. My mom recommended meditation and she seconds my acupuncture idea. She knows I'm into alternative medicines and she has been super supportive with my "wacky" ideas and methods.

  • I had chronic migraines for years, to the point of having headaches of varying degrees daily as well as full blown migraines that lasted 2-3 days every couple of weeks. I have tried so many things over the years, and the only thing that ever made them manageable was doing an elimination diet to find triggers. My triggers, so far, are chocolate, cinnamon, honey, and anything with nitrates such as hot dogs, lunch meat, and some cheeses.

I honestly don't eat any of those things other than chocolate every once in a while. I am a REALLY healthy eater, I eat out MAYBE once a month and I don't eat food with nitrates, they give me REALLY BAD bubble guts and it's gross. LOL I drink maybe a cup of coffee a day and maybe one soda a day I really don't like dark sodas so I most drink the caffeine free stuff and even that is rare. I LOVE water and almond milk it's my weakness I won't even lie my cousin has me hooked! I don't think it's my diet. I'm sure it's ever connected to my insomnia or my AF

I know one company a friend of a friend buys from is called Young Living. I Googled essential oils for pcos. You will probably find a zillion different combos of oils, so I would read about each individual oil. That might be a good place to start, I've heard acupuncture works well too!
I am sitting on a computer with a note pad and honestly looking like a college student doing tons of research right now! you have turned me onto this and I truly can not wait to give this a try and tomorrow is pay day! I know where my check is going after I fill up on gas!!!!! you have no idea how thankful I am for this! (I am actually a florist and a lot of these oils I can make my self from the flowers we get in!!!)
