We had our anatomy scan yesterday and everything with DD is measuring great. However, I noticed in the 3D pictures that the cord is wrapped around her neck. I brought it to my doctor's attention, and she wants to see me back in 2 weeks for a follow up ultrasound to see if it's still there. I'm not VERY worried, but of course I have some nerves. I know that it's fairly common and that some babies will unwrap themselves naturally. Still, I also have read about the low chance that it causes serious complications. Does anyone have any insight/experience?
Re: 21 weeks with cord wrapped around neck
I think they would monitor you closely. The main issue would be birth, in the fact that you would have to get a c section since the baby would be in danger in a vaginal birth
My second baby was born with the cord around her neck. My MW said it was no big deal. When the baby is born, they kind of "flip" the baby out, and really, I had no idea her cord was wrapped until she told me afterwards.
Hopefully your baby untangles itself. I know my MW wasn't worried about mine, and has said she's delivered babies with the cord wrapped twice with no problem. Try not to stress.
