Supposedly you take canned biscuits, deep fry them, then roll them in cinnamon sugar. If you've made them do you have any tips for making them turn out right, like oil temp, etc.? To me this just sounds too delicious to be true...
Yep! We get these at the Asian restaurant all the time when we eat at the buffet... And yes, I have made them... As others have mentioned, it's just like making donuts..
Depending on which oil you use, 350 is a good oil temp for frying. I know I go slightly higher when I use Canola vs. vegetable but not too hot to burn the oil.
My Dad would make these when we were growing up, except instead of rolling in cinnamon sugar, he would put them fresh from the pan into a paper lunch bag with some sugar and shake the bag to coat the donuts. They're great hot but turn pretty hard if you let them get cold. For this reason, there were never any leftovers. At least that's what we said.
Yeah, I just added canned biscuits to next week's shopping list, along with the ingredients for butter cake, because I couldn't decide which to make first...
I've made these before and they are delicious. I deep fried them at 350degrees. When they start to turn golden brown take them out. I put powdered sugar on mine. Hmmm I may make some tonight.
