RnP transition to crib? HELP!

Sorry if this has already been asked. LO sleeps in RnP for some naps and def for bed time. She sleeps 8-10 hours at night in the RnP. So far she hates her crib. I bought a wedge thinking the incline was what she liked... WRONG. We've tried several times but no success. The longest she's slept in it was 20 minutes.

Anyone have any tips on transitioning LO into her crib? We have a month until we are both back at work full time and need her to be able to sleep in a crib by then.  TIA!

Re: RnP transition to crib? HELP!

  • New to A14 here.... But this is what we did... We transitioned DS into a vibrating PnP (gifted @ my shower) so he could get used to sleeping on his back, but with the same comfort of the vibration from the RnP. We went from the SwaddleMe to the Miracle Blanket because he was escaping, and it's worked!

We have our night routine down pat and I have no problems getting DS to sleep typically 7-8 hours a night with no motn feedings (I EBF). His last feed is around 10pm and his first feed is around 6am, then swaddled and back to bed until about 8-830. Once he started breaking one leg out of the miracle blanket I started tightly wrapping a receiving blanket around the bottom portion of his body (folded hot dog style) and that's exactly how I find him in the morning!

If I hear him fuss I push the vibrate button and he's out (I also use vibrate once I out him down at night- there's a timer). I plan to have him in the PnP for awhile longer just because it's so convenient in the morning to feed (side-lying) in bed, which gives me an extra hour of shut-eye. I too was so nervous for the transition because I went back to work only 7 weeks pp, but it's really been a breeze!

  • Just curious, why do you NEED her to be in the crib? If it's because you want her in her own rom, just move the Rnp into the nursery. My LO has reflux and the rnp/swing are going to be our only option for a while (incline in pnp doesn't work well enough for her) so in a few weeks I'm moving those into her nursery from our room.

We need her to be in her crib because my parents and my in laws will be watching her next month when I go back to work and they both have cribs they will use for naps. She is also very long and is beginning to look scrunched in the RnP

  • I have no idea if this will work but... We have been putting our lo in his crib when he's awake, happy, and playful. We want him to get used to it and be comfortable. Essentially we don't want to crib to feel foreign. He seems content now in the crib but he has yet to sleep in it. That's the next step but we need to buy a monitor still.
    Good luck!!
  • The "batwing" is exactly how the miracle blanket works and same here, before I even finished swaddling LO passes out! I couldn't believe it really was miraculous.
