Fifth Disease exposure :(

Hi, Mamas. This is a little post to vent my worry. I found out today that my toddler and I were exposed to Fifth Disease twice in the last week. We spent probably a total of two hours around the little girl who has it, and never played directly with her... the closest we came was doing yoga on a mat next to her for about 45 minutes.

I know it's unlikely I'll come down with it, and that even if I do, the risks to the baby are fairly low. But I am still wallowing in a little pit of worry today. :(

Please cross your fingers for me that my family stays healthy and this is a non-issue! xx

  • Here is a CDC article. It looks like the odds of something happening are very slim. =)

Thank you! I actually found this article myself, and found it very reassuring. Then I was dumb and continued to google. Not that I even found anything particularly alarming, but still enough to get me down.

  • I am in the same boat. I got a call from work last week saying a child from the week before was diagnosed with this (parvovirus b19) the day after I cared for him in recovery. I declined the test to check for immunity because there really isn't much that can be done either way. Just stay hopeful that the chances are slim that you and unborn baby will be affected.
