Their own bedroom

When did you or plan move LO to their own rooms? With DD1 she was next to me for 5 1/2- 6 months but that's because we were living at my grandmothers house waiting for our new house to be finished. She's only two weeks so I'm in no rush just curious.

Between 6- 8 months. Right now is so convenient to have her next to me.

We moved LO after 3 nights. So much better in his own room, though I will bring him into our room to nurse and co-sleep occasionally :-/

  • DS was in his room at around six months adjusted. We don't have another room so when DD is a little older and sleeping better they will share a room. Probably by the fall.

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

  • My plan is to move her when she's sleeping 4-5 hour stretches at night. She's 5 weeks and still waking every 3 hours, so it'll probably be a while.
  • DD "slept" in her bassinet at my bedside for 2 nights, but really DH kept bringing her to her swing so she would stop fussing. I feed her and change her in her room during the night anyway, so the third night we tried the crib, and that was much better for her. Each night I feed her in the living room at bedtime, then once she sleeps she goes in her swing for 10 min before going into the crib to make sure she is really out. Her bedroom is just across the hall from hers so I can get to her very quickly when she fusses.

  • I moved DS at about 6 months and will do the same for B. I like him with me :\">

  • I'm hoping around 3 months. She has slept in her crib before while DH is in the twin bed and she's slept in there fine. And considering I get up and feed her in the nursery it won't be an inconvenience for feedings. We just don't have an air conditioner in the nursery like we do in our bedroom which is a huge reason why she's not already in her crib

  • Our plan is to have her in there by the time I go back to work at 12 weeks but we plan to start working on transitioning her around 9-10 weeks. If she starts STTN sooner than that, we'll move her earlier.

DS has been in his own room in his crib at night since our first night home. He seems to prefer his rockaroo during the day though.

I will start the transition at 6m but don't anticipate him sttn or staying full time in his room until around a year
  • LO has been in her crib in dd1's room since day 3. I can't sleep with a baby in my room and dd1 was adamant that baby sleep with her so it's worked out!
  • Never! She's probably my last baby and I refuse to let her grow up!
J/k.. Kind of..  Probably when she starts sleeping longer stretches.

  • My plan is to move him once he is sleeping closer to 4 or 5 hours. Right now we are around 3-3.5 hours.

  • As soon as it cools down, hopefully September or October, we will begin the process of moving her to her own room. Our room is air conditioned and her room is not, the temperatures in her room easily reach 90 degrees each day. If our landlord will let us install a window unit in her room she will be moved sooner.

  • Who knows. DD1 wasn't evicted until she was 18 months old (I know, I know). This time around we started right away with the crib since she didn't like the RnP. When she starts sleeping longer stretches then maybe we will move her. I know I'm the odd one out most of the time when I say I like my kids in my bed with me.
  • @ohyealovely‌ if DH would let me our 2.9 year old would still be in bed with me haha I love the AMs DH leaves for work at 6am and she comes to snuggle in bed with me. Dd2 is sleeping in the rock and play next to me and she wakes at 7 but if I bring her into bed with dd1 and I she will continue sleeping until 8.

  • Since the first night, barring a few super early mornings and some naps. I have a lot of trouble sleeping with babies on my room, they make too much noise.

My first moved to her crib around 2 months. I will probably do the same with Viviana. I love having them next to me in the cosleeper, but I find the transition is much easier when they are younger, so I'll try not to let it go so long.

  • I had originally hoped to keep him in our room in the bassinet until he slept through the night (or at least didn't wake up every 2-3 hours) but he's quickly approaching the weight limit on the bassinet because he's a monster, so we are actually starting to transition him to his crib for naps now. I go back to work in about a month, so it'll probably be easier not to have him in our room so that I can get ready in the morning without disturbing him.

Me too! DD1 was 18 months, DD2 was 1 year and DS will probably go to his own room at 1 year as well. We like cosleeping :)

  • I am a super light sleeper so he's been in his own room since day one. Plus it works well since then he and his brother's rooms are on opposite sides of the house so he's never been woken up by the baby yet *knocks on wood*

  • He went at about 3 weeks. He snores and snorts and gurgles and grunts all night. We were getting no sleep. He does fine. I was going in there to feed him anyways because he's a loud eater and would wake his daddy.
  • I moved my last two babies in their own room when they started sleeping through the night. Around 4 months.

  • We plan on moving him into his own room at 6m+. He's currently sleeping 4-5 hour stretches in his crib in our bedroom, so hopefully the transition will just be a change of scenery.

  • My baby is four weeks old and I would strongly consider having her sleep in her own room if she had one. She is such a noisy sleeper! She slept for 5 hours last night, 3 of which I was awake for because I thought she was waking up every 15 minutes. Now I'm thinking about having her sleep in the living room.
  • They've been in there since they came home. We spent the first 6 days sleeping in there too on the futon and decided that two adults, two babies and a cat in one room was too much. We all sleep better in our own beds.

Except the cat. She apparently considers both rooms hers and sleeps smack dab in the middle of our bed or else stretched across the corner of the area rug closest to the door in their room.

  • Lincoln was over sleeping in our room as of 5 months but i made him tough it out till 6 because i didn't realize that was the problem. Remington doesn't have a crib yet so she is in our room. She is a grunter and when I told the pedi that, he suggested we move her to her room ASAP because he thinks the grunting prevents moms from getting quality sleep.

  • We started transitioning after 4 weeks. Now DD sleeps in the playpen in out room only during the first sleeping session of the night which is from 11-4 or 5. After that feeding, we change her in her own room and then put her down in her crib. She also naps in her crib.
