updated - Head to ER?

edited July 2014 in December 2014 Moms
Twice this week my vision has gone blurry, headaches, and lightheaded. It passed both times but my BP was really low (88/44)
This time the headache hasn't gone away, and I am still lightheaded but the vision issue is gone.

Ive been waiting 2 hours on a call back from the Dr, but I am thinking I should just head to the ER.
Can they even do anything for low BP?

Update... seems to be a Remicade reaction. Baby is fine, they did an US and all is well. Just gotta wait a few days for it to pass. Thanks everyone.

Re: updated - Head to ER?

  • I'd head to the ER.  I figure it's better to be safe than sorry.  Can someone drive you since you're still feeling lightheaded?

Maybe try one last call to the doc and if they still don't help you head to the ER.

Have you had any protein? I know lack of protein caused issues like that in my friends pregnancy. But she also has BP issues

  • I had been having issues eating the past few weeks but since I got my remicade infusion friday, Ive been eating really well and even gained 4 lbs, so I think I should be good in that department.
  • Have you been drinking enough water? The first thing we do in the hospital for a patient with a low BP is give them a bolus of fluid. Especially since you said headaches and vision issues I would guess you may be dehydrated.

  • Yes, but please have someone drive you if you're still lightheaded! ;-)

They can give you IV fluid, you might be dehydrated even if you've been drinking. Maybe try increasing your salt intake to help keep your BP up.

  • I'd go, but I'd have someone else drive you. I hope everything is ok.
  • My husband is here to drive me. I have been drinking like crazy, water and gatorade and even peeing 8 times a day.

They called me back, and I have an appointment at 1:30.
  • Oh my! I hope you can figure out what is causing it. Please keep us updated and I hope you start to feel more like yourself soon.

    I disagree. They don't start IV's.....
*Said goodbye to our angel baby July 30. 2014. only had him for 21 weeks in my belly, missing him every day*
  • It's possible you have been drinking too much water also. My husband had great stroke last year after being in a fire, (he's a firefighter) and they kept making him drink water, but when they finally took him to the er they said the water was just flushing everything out of his system. I would stick with just Gatorade for now. Hope everything is OK!
