Finding out the sex along with everyone else....

So, with ds#1 and #2 we found out right there in the u/s room which was 100% cool with me.

Well, now DH wants to have a "reveal" with our families and WE find out along with everyone else.  I agreed but said it had to be done the same day as my u/s because I just don't want to wait.

My question to you....any ideas on how to do the reveal without just opening the envelope and say....It's a ___"?  Having a cake made is out because they can't do it in that short of notice.  Also, we were hoping to do something where no one had to set it up other than a worker or whatever.  For example, handing the envelope to a store clerk and they make the cake without us knowing anything ahead of time.

~after 34 cycles we finally got our 2nd little bundle of joy~

    I've seen a lot of people open up a box of balloons in either pink or blue. I'm sure you could give them the envelope and ask them to fill a box with the right color and wrap it up. That would not require a lot of prep.

    We are doing the box of balloons. We are just taking the envelope to our party city and a box we are having them fill them with helium balloons so when we open it they fly up. Then one that says it's a boy or a it's a girl attached to the bottom of the box by a string.

    To add to the balloon thing you can have the store clerk fill a black balloon with pink or blue confetti, just make sure to use a balloon that's not see thru, and POP IT!!

    We're doing the cake and I'm so excited! My scan was yesterday and our party isn't until next Wednesday! Good thing I gave the envelope to someone else :P
    You could do silly string! I always thought that idea was cute

    I had a friend who did the silly string thing and it scared their 2 year old daughter.

    I like the balloon ideas. If you are on instagram, you can search #sexreveal or #genderreveal to get some ideas.That's how DH and I killed time in the dr. office waiting room yesterday :)

    If you had the time you could grab a box of premised cupcakes from a deli, take the tops off and spoon out a core in the bottom half to add the respective color icing inside. Put the tops back on a voila! Insta cake reveal. Just grab a tub of already made icing.

    After writing this I think I misunderstood your situation. You won't know until the reveal... Could you have someone you know help, or maybe ask the bakery, they are always so helpful

    I've also seen it done where you can go to a store in advance and pick out one blue outfit and one pink outfit. After the ultrasound, you can go back to the store, hand someone the envelope, and have them go back and gift wrap the appropriate outfit you chose.

    I dont know if this is stupid or not, but maybe have an envelope and give it to the oldest person  that will be at the reveal...like a great aunt or grandmother...I think its kind of sentimental...but not sure if that would work!

    We're doing the balloon pop 2 days after the u/s. However, we talked to the closest party store and they don't carry the nice big black balloons regularly so they have to order it in. Not a problem as I won't find out until the end of August (due 1/1). They also didn't have paper confetti (we're doing it at the park with the family so didn't want anything not biodegradable like the Mylar stuff)... So I had to order both colors from a online store.

    Multiple etsy vendors sold the balloon and would send both colors of confetti along with it for relatively cheap. Knowing what I know now about our party store, I would have done that from the get-go.
