Trying to Get Pregnant

fitbit flex vs. nike fuelband

I know I asked about activity trackers awhile back, but H and I never did end up getting them. We are planning to get one this weekend. He has narrowed it down to the flex and the nike fuelband. I know some of you ladies have the flex, but does anyone have the fuelband? If so, opinions? Also, if you have a flex, why did you chose it?

Re: fitbit flex vs. nike fuelband

  • I have the fuel band, but I heard a little rumor they were going to stop making it.  Not sure if that's true.  I like mine a lot except I got the white one and its impossible to keep clean.  I like the app although it is temperamental at times.  I didn't do any research, it was a gift, so its hard for me to compare the pros and cons.

  • I love my flex for multiple reasons-1. It tracks sleep 2. It has silent alarms that wake me up for temping and does not wake H 3. Syncs to my phone/comp/Ipad 4.Can chat with friends through the app and compete with them 5. Can connect with others on the online community.

I have the flex and love it but I will be upgrading to the new one once they get the burning ppl issue figured out. I also heard that the Fuel band is going to no longer be made so I would try to avoid that if possible.

I really wanted the force as well. Have they said when and if they are going to re-release it?

Burning people? Are you thinking of the Force? Cuz that one caused rashes. But they aren't selling that one anymore and gave full refunds to anyone with the Force. The Flex (I believe anyway) hasn't had any issues like that.
@kariann12 yah thats what I was saying, I have the flex as of now but will be upgrading to the new one (force) when they fix the issue with the band. Some got hot and burned ppl, not severely, but enough for complaints and some caused rashes.

They say that they aren't planning on releasing the Force again, but that they do have "something" in the works... I have been holding off buying the Flex because I really want the newest gen one! I have the one and I have loved it, just wanting one that tracks sleep would be nice!

  • I understand they are going to stop making the fuel band because nike is teaming up with apple to be part of the "apple watch".
We have the fitbit and I LOVE it. It's amazing. Cannot say enough good things.
    Due March 2016 :)

  • I had the Force and LOVED it but was one of the people that got the crazy bad rash from it.  My wrist had sores for months after I stopped wearing it.  I am waiting until the new version comes out to buy a new one instead of getting the Flex.  No idea when that will be though.  I had a Jawbone UP24 but returned it.  It's similar but I liked the fit of the Force better.

  • My husband and I have the fitbit and we love them. We even have friends that got one too so we can all compete. Of course I'm losing because of these fertility treatments. I love the silent alarm because I'm deaf in one ear and sometimes I never heard my alarm going off. I do agree with a PP I wish it had a snooze button, but I never thought of setting multiple alarms, I'm going to try that.
    Fucking bump!!!!
  • My DH and I have a fitbit! I also want to point out the flex is waterproof up to a meter so no worrying about it when you go swimming!  Also I haven't needed to but my fitbit friend (of the one I think) said they have a great customer service department. They've sent her 3 new ones without a question! (This was when it first came out) Once for it not working, and once she lost it! Idk why for the 3rd but they were super helpful with her!

  • I don't use either but I did just read an article about people complaining that they gained weight after following the Fitbit plan. I guess it doesn't give you the right calories?

I don't even follow the calorie plans, I never even gave it thought that people did...I track my meals myself, kind of like with My fitnesspal.

The story on the Today Show yesterday had a woman blaming her fitbit for making her gain weight because she was walking 35000 steps a day and then consuming all the extra calories it was giving her for working out.  She said she was given the impression that she could eat whatever she wanted as long as she was burning the calories.

Um...that's her faulty thought process, not the product's fault.

  • I laughed SO hard reading that! Figures, blame the gadget not the being stupid...oh woops, that was kind of harsh.
Your body will adjust to what you do, and if she did 35,000 steps a day every day and never rested, your body will think that's normal and hang on to every single calorie you eat because it's freaking out! Rest is just as important as working out.

  • I have the fitbit too and I love it. It really is overall I think a bit better. I read that article about gaining weight too, that was her fault not fitbit's.
  • It sounds like the fitbit is the clear winner here, i think that is what I am going to get and then wait to see what they replace the force with! Thank you all very much for your input!!!!
