What to get the travelling child?

So there is a super long, dramatic story behind it, but this weekend we are meeting the 3 month old son of MH's cousin. The baby was born to the woman he is divorcing who moved from Florida to Ohio once she served him with papers. She is travelling down with the baby this weekend so MH's cousin's family can meet the baby. Are you guys still with me?

Usually I know exactly what to get a new baby and mother, but I don't know the rules in the soon-to-be XW who is screwing over MH's cousin royally gift giving guide :) (seriously, I'm sure I've lost you by now). So I want to get the kid something that they need/want but won't make flying back to Ohio a hassle. I don't want to do a gift card, because we are meeting them in person. I also usually get something for the new mom, which I still want to do, but I need to make sure that it's nothing that will turn MH's family against me (yes, they are that petty) and I wanted to get something for the dad too...oy this weekend should be fun...

    I would say maybe a favorite book or two? Easy to pack, not a whole lot of emotional attachment, but encourages early reading (I can't turn off the teacher in me). Maybe a nice travel mug and coffee gc for mom? Something she can use while she's traveling. I'm not sure for the dad :(

    I like the book idea.  Personally I wouldn't do squat for the mom but I don't usually anyway lol  If anything I'd maybe get mom and dad each a frame for that first "OMG my kid is the most beautiful kid ever!" picture :)

    I love the book idea @cricket81 maybe that will encourage her to be a good mom to this sweet boy.

    @elmoali I was thinking like nail polish and a file with a ribbon around it for the mom, I love the idea for a frame for the dad

    @steamboat123 MH suggested that we get their address in OH and send them diapers and wipes, I feel bad, but I'd rather give the dad the diapers and wipes so she can't pull any "you can't watch my baby because you aren't prepared" garbage...ugh I hate family dramz
