We had our anatomy scan today and it just seemed to go by pretty fast. After all the pictures were taken (the baby wasn't cooperating much) she kept taking pictures of the heart. I asked her how come she's looking at his heart so much and she said that since the baby moved, she didn't get all the measurements she needed.
When she was done, I asked how everything looked and she said it all looked good, but she didn't really give any details. She asked me several times if I was seeing my Dr. right after and I told her that my apt with him wasn't until July 22nd. I'm hopefully just being paranoid, but if something was wrong, would she have said something or would she have waited and had my Dr. Talk to me at my next appt?
I know it's probably just me. She have me all the pictures but she kept the one from the heart. She did say in the scan that she saw all of the 4 chambers and that everything was normal. I guess I'm just being paranoid? Has anyone experienced this?
Re: Question about my anatomy scan...
when looking at the heart the tech was looking for 4 chambers and how the blood flowed through each chamber. She highlighted it in red and blue to see how the blood flowed. She looked for holes or abnormalities that could affect the blood flow. She also listened to the heartbeat and measured the heartrate. If the baby moves they have to take more images to make sure they got the correct measurements. The firstcouple of ultrasounds she was laying on her stomach and they ccouldn't get good images of her spine. I had to go back anyway for growth checks but it wasn't until very recently they got decent shots of her spine.
chances are everything is fine. Once the results are sent to your dr if there's an issue your dr will call. If they didn't get decent shots of his heart they may have you schedule another scan, it doesn't mean anything is wrong it just means the doc wants a clearer shot of the heart. Just try to relax until your appointment.
The Fetal Echo doctor called me at 9a next morning and I was there later that week and at a Peri doctor for level 2
Baby had VSD (a hole between lower chambers) medium sized to large hole, it CLOSED the day before I delivered at 39 weeks
1. If their is a problem they will let you know quick
2. Just if there is a problem with the heart doesn't mean it can't fix itself so deep breath for you
I hope everything was perfect and you don't get any calls
I've been going for growth scans since my a/s and they had to take a lot of shots of the heart because baby wasn't cooperating.
It's hard but just wait and see what your doctor says
