Just woke up with a fever, swollen neck and such a sore throat I can barely swallow. I'm currently waiting to see if my boss can cover my appointments today Anyone else have strep during pregnancy?
Yes, I did early on in pregnancy. I was very sick and I got worse very quickly. Even drinking cold water hurt and I was crying because my body ached so badly. I took Tylenol to keep the fever down and barely managed to drag myself to the doctors, but I started feeling better pretty quickly after taking the antibiotics.
As a side note, when they did the quick test for strep it did not come back positive, but they sent the lab results out and those results confirmed it was strep. Apparently the quick tests only test for certain types of strep and are not 100% accurate.
Strep is terrible. I have not had it as an adult but I got it as a child once every 4-6 months. I hope you can get to your doctor and get treated right away. Feel better soon!
I had it last November - I caught it from my toddler. Go to the doctor ASAP and get antibiotics. Once you take them, you will start feeling better. Try and drink as much water as you can and rest.
I haven't but good news is antibiotics should definitely do the trick. Try not to stress -- women get sick (including strep) all the time while pregnant. Feel better soon!
Thanks all. My quick test was negative, but the culture is pending. She was pretty confident it's strep with the fever and plaques, ugh. Hopefully the antibiotics work quickly since there's no one to cover me at work the rest of the week.
Feel better soon. Hopefully the antiboctics will kick in soon.
I had broncitis a couple of weeks ago. It is no fun. But with over the counter meds and antibotics I am feeling much better. I still have the cough that decides to rear it's head.
Usually they can tell with a decent degree of certainty when they look at your throat - if it's strep it's pretty disgusting (white gunk). And then the culture will tell you for sure. I'm so sorry you're feeling like this! Strep is the worst.
If you catch it the day or two before the flare when you just feel fevery it won't be gunky and white
I have had it twice now like this.. Where I went from fine to feeling like I had the flu with fever but my throat hadn't swollen yet.. Came home and by the next morning it was sheer pain and agony...
I know they ruled it out but strep in adults in the worst. I don't want to imagine actual strep and pregnancy mixed

I thought this too. I remember my mom looking in my throat with a flashlight when I was a kid, but when I had strep this year they didn't see anything in my throat.

I have had massive ringing in that ear and on the left side and lots of blood sugar issues
She basically said it was drainage and allergies
Feel better soon. Hopefully the antiboctics will kick in soon.
