Going to a BBQ with my family and they are only providing hot dogs, is it ok to eat? I'm waiting to tell my extended family! And I know I've read some things saying you can't eat hot dogs. What do you all think?!
It's fine in moderation. Hotdogs, bacon, and lunch meat, are all high in nitrates, but as long as you aren't eating them that often, you should be fine. I would not make it all summer without hotdogs, and I wouldn't dream of not eating bacon for the rest of the pregnancy. Seriously, that would be so un-American! Now I'm kinda craving a hotdog wrapped in bacon...
Hebrew national hotdogs are so good! I had one yesterday. Hotdogs do contain nitrates (which is why you saw them on a no list) moderation is key. I wouldn't eat them 6 times a day but occasionally it's fine.

Just had one from a food truck that seriously changed my life. Who would think cream cheese on a hot dog would be SOOOOOO good?
I'm gonna need some details about the cream cheese hot dog! Cream cheese has been one of my major cravings so I'm dying to hear about how they pulled this combo off. It sounds kind of amazing.

Oh my gosh you have no idea!! It was an all beef dog that they slit and grilled. Then they spread cream cheese on both sides of the bun. I had mine with pickles. Not sure how to link from my phone but it was from BoDawgs in Reno.

Listeria is the problem with hot dogs, but as long as they are cooked through to the point they are steaming any existing listeria is killed. I had a jalapeño-cheddar hot dog from a local Butcher- delish!! Now adding bacon and cream cheese to those would be amazing....
I couldn't survive without hotdogs and lunch meat! The main risk is Listeria, but as long as the hotdog is cooked to 160 degrees (I think) it should be fine.
I have never heard of cream cheese on a hotdog. Im skeptical but its worth a try.

I eat turkey hot dogs normally... But no interest in hot dogs since becoming pregnant.. And then they were never plain.. It's always made into a corn dog or wrapped in a crescent roll with cheese...
I tried so hard to eat healthy all the time with my first, which meant no processed foods, like hot dogs. I've never been A huge fan of hot dogs but for some reason I wanted a hot dog so f-ing bad, so I gave in and had a hot dog or 5. Unless your eating them kobayashi style you should be fine
FYI...ball park put out an all natural hot dog without nitrates and it's amazing. Best hotdog ever! Maybe take a couple packs and say you wanted to help out? This way the attention isn't just on you being "picky".
10 medicated IUI's (3 with injectables).
IUI #1 (medicated) Jan. 2013-BFP!!!!- Beta's didn't double, MTX shot for possible ectopic.
8 IUI's between April 13-April 14 = BFN
IUI #10 and final before IVF, injectables May 2014- BFP!!!! TWINS!!!!
7 week ultrasound showed 2 wonderful heartbeats!
8 weeks to the ER with vaginal bleeding while on vacations! Diagnosed SubChorionic Hemorrhage. Babies are both great.
9 week ultrasound showed both babies are still great.
I don't eat anything on the "no" list because it's just not worth it to me and I would never forgive myself should anything go wrong and something happen to my baby. I know the risk is pretty low but I can go without a hotdog for 9 months lol That's just me though and plenty of people "break the rules"
FWIW I do think there are hotdogs that have no nitrates in them so you could always pick up some and bring them with you

Hebrew national hotdogs are the only ones I eat! So much better tasting than the scrap meat hotdogs.

I personally was told to never eat deli meat during my pg (from a high risk OB who told me it can make you sick and cause a mc).
I'm staying away from hotdogs as well, and did before pg just bc of the nitrates/nitrates. If I want a hot dog, I buy applegate farms organic - but that's a rarity. Just my 2 cents.

The thought of cream cheese on a hotdog makes me queasy...
I like mine with ketchup, cheese, and pickles. NOT RELISH, PICKLES! I'm very picky about that.
Monster Truck (It's a GIRL!) is due 19/02/2015!

I was skeptical at first too but they talked me into trying it. I thought I'd hate it but now I love it.
