Surgery Update

Not sure how many people really care, but I wanted to let everyone know that I had complications with my surgery (hydronephrosis due to the stent shifting in place) and had to be readmitted to the hospital and have another nephrostomy (tube going through my back into my kidney, draining into a urine bag) put in. I'm feeling pretty down and anxious about the fact that I'm supposed to be starting my fellowship in a couple weeks and I have can barely walk to the living room without getting dizzy.

Sorry for the debby downer. Just wanted everyone to know what's going on with me especially if my replies are a little cranky.

And I had to wean to formula for all the above reasons which is its own swirl of emotions, especially during a time when I can do very little of the care for my daughter and feel as though she's forgetting me.

@wedding06 I guess the plan is to take it one step at a time. I have to have a stent exchange next Tuesday, which is done under general anesthesia. I don't know yet how long the nephrostomy will need to be in. Maybe up to six weeks

Oh man! I'm so sorry..hopefully it'll all be fixed soon. It sounds like you have a lot on your plate. If you still aren't up to it when your fellowship starts, will they allow you to start when you feel better?

. That's a lot all at once. Try not to let all of the things out of your control bring you down. And take the rest so you can be with your daughter when better which I know is hard.

I'm not sure. It's hard because I have clinics with patients scheduled, etc.

Ugh I'm so sorry you've had more complications

I remember the mixed emotions when I weaned DS and that was voluntarily, I can't imagine how hard it is for you when you have no control over it and are already feeling so crappy on too of it...hang in there, mama! Hoping for a speedy recovery for you!

You have really been through a lot.

I had a tough recovery after my first delivery but nothing like you have endured. I'm so sorry you have to keep dealing with all these health issues. There is NO WAY that your DD is forgetting you!! You are her mommy and she knows you better than anyone. When I was laid up, I just had to keep reminding myself that LO would never remember any "missed" time from me because she was too young to really realize what was going on.

So sorry to hear. I hope you heal quickly! I'm going through a forced weaning to formula stage right now and I completely understand your feelings there. It really helps me to keep remembering the most important part, that my baby eats. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what.

Oh man, that is no fun. Hang in there. I dont want to say it gets easier, because it may not. However I did go to work for a few weeks with a nephrostomy bag once, and spent most of 5th grade with a vesacostomy (sp is wrong....) bag. So it sucks, I hope you heal quickly. Hang in there mama, the universe can be a bitch, but usually it works out.

I'm positive your program will be understanding, these things happen. Patients can be rescheduled or seen by someone else. Worst case scenario you may need to use some of your vacation time to recover but hopefully you can just defer your start date. What is your fellowship in? Best wishes on a swift recovery.

Oh gosh lady. I'm so sorry. I can't even imagine having a tube that long. Stay strong! Your daughter will never forget how much you went through to birth her, because you'll never let her forget.

Also, you need a break; people have been telling me since Willa was born that formula is good stuff. Take care of you and heal up! Keep us updated! Big hugs!
