CPW: What is the summer climate like where you live?

Right now I think I could fry an egg on the sidewalk, so I'm just curious what it's like where you live. Feel free to elaborate in the comments.

It's still sort of cold more often than not. I need to wear a jacket or a coat pretty much night and day.

It's mild. I can get away with short sleeves and long pants during the day but need a jacket at night.

It's warm. I can wear shorts during the day and just need to throw on a light jacket when the sun goes down.

It's hot (but not humid). If I wear shorts and a tank top I am still pretty comfortable outside. If never completely cools off, but if it does a light jacket is enough.

It's really hot (but not humid). If I wear shorts and a tank top I am still pretty miserable outside. Even after dark it is still hot.

It's hot and humid. I can sit outside and as long as I wear shorts or a sundress and have a cold beverage I'm okay.

It's really hot and humid. If I take a shower I am sweaty again within minutes after I go outside. Makeup basically melts off of my face.

Hot and muggy with monsoons in the afternoon!

  • I'm in PA, we've been having a lot of days where it's high 80s with 90% humidity but then other days when it's only in the 70s during the day and chilly at night.. There's no middle ground!

  • Normally our summers are hot and very humid (I'm in Minnesota), but this summer has been really weird. Not quite as hot as normal, still pretty humid (70+ percent humidity most days), we've had way too much rain this summer(record breaking amounts of rain in June, major flooding still in certain areas), and we've had some unseasonably cool days lately. For instance, Minneapolis just hosted the MLB All-Star Game this week and on Monday during the Home-Run Derby it was only in the 50s!

  • I can't believe it, but I have had the windows open for a couple days and it's actually cool enough in the house in the mornings to put on a sweatshirt!! I'm on the southern border of WI, and it's typically in the 80's/90's and HUMID right now... this has been the coolest summer that I can remember!!
  • I think we hit 112° on Monday, just dry heat. There's always fires here in the summer, so the last week has been smoky and disgustingly hot!

  • The Pacific Northwest does this fun thing where we go through all seasons at all times in one day. It will be cool in the morning. Showers and a soy pour in the late morning then hot as balls in the afternoon and not cool off at all at night. I'm in the valley here so things get weird. It's been 90's for about a week and fairly humid. If its dry heat I'm happy but I don't usually get that lucky.

  • I'm in NC and it gets pretty darn hot. 90-100 degrees and high humidity. If you're outside, you either need shade or a swimming pool. We actually had a big cold front come through last night so it's in the low 80s today which is amazing. Thank goodness for AC!

This would be frustrating to dress for. Do you just do lots of layered outfits?

I live just south of this, in northern Illinois. In July our average temp is 84 but todays high was 72. Yes, while a bit unusual- when I was a lifeguard as a teen the pool would close any day that the projected high was under 68. And there was always 2-3 days a summer this would happen. Just like there s always at least a week of temps over 90. Personally I love our weather (except the humidity) as June- August its usually upper 70s and 80s...not too hot, not too cold.

  • New Brunswick is a special snowflake all by itself. We get weather coming in from 3 different directions, so even the experts can't tell what it's going to be like. We can go from 50's one day to (with humidity) over 100 the next. Today it's 70's and rainy.
