pain 2.5 weeks PP

I am 2.5 weeks PP from a RCS and still dealing with pain on one side of my incision when I move around.  Went back to my doctor last week and they sent me for an u/s.  Everything looks good and he doesn't have any explanation for why I have so much pain on that side when moving.  It is not tender and doesn't hurt when I am sitting or laying down.  It is extremely painful when I stand for more than a few minutes though.

My question is how long were you still dealing with pain?  DH thinks I need to call again tomorrow, because there is something wrong.  I am hoping it is just taking my body a little extra time to recover and all will be fine soon.

Re: pain 2.5 weeks PP

  • I am 3.5 wk PP and I still have some pain on my left side. It's not as severe as what you are describing. When I asked my Dr when I could expect to be back to "normal" she said everyone is different but that in some cases it takes months......
  • Just lurking but in case it helps: I second the pp that you know your body best and get a second opinion if needed.

However, I just wanted to add that it may be normal to feel ok while at rest but in pain with very light activity. I think I came out of the initial pain in 3 or 4 weeks - but I do remember that it was very easy to feel 100% at rest and then overdo it with very light physical activity such as walking around the house or doing stairs.

i think it really took me about 6-8 weeks to finally feel normal again... In part because i kept think I was okay and then winding up in pain after I pushed it.

  • I always feel worse on my left side, I'm 3 weeks out now. Like one of the PP's I too, think I feel better some days and push myself and only end up hurting worse (or the medicine makes me think I feel better and it wears off and hurts again). Bending is finally getting much better but I find the worst pain comes from wearing clothes. My leggings/pants/underwear all sit right on the incision point (I imagine many women's do, depending on how you wear your clothes) and it feels sore all day! I've tried some workarounds but I wish this feeling would dissipate.

  • Thanks ladies!  I didn't go back in last week and I am feeling a lot better this week.  I think it was/is just taking me a little longer to recover this time.  I'm getting there!  DH just hears about all our friends that are back to normal activity super fast and I feel like he thinks I should be too.  I think that was his big concern and why he thought I needed to go back in again.

  • I read your post last month prior to my RCS. Hear I am just 1 week pp & have the same left side pain.

Sometimes I feel like the leg hole for my underwear has just dug in to skin too much if I've sat for a long time, etc, or that I've walked/done too much that day. I didn't have any of this with my first, so glad to hear its common & could just take a few weeks.

I try not to worry too much. If it was something serious I feel like it would be constant pain, which mine is not.

    Thanks for posting this!

  • I was still in pain at that point. You had major surgery! I would say my pain didn’t go away till 6 weeks, but was much better by 4 . And not 100% pain free all the time until around 12 weeks. Also it can take longer after each c section to recover!
