Keurig

So I think I'm finally going to bite the bullet. I like a nice cup of coffee on the weekends but I don't need a big pot to myself since DH is on swingshift now he's only home a full 1 weekend a month. I'm thinking of getting the mini because of counterspace issues. Anyone with this likes/dislikes? Also has anyone used their promo code/Kohl's cash at midnight thing? I've heard of people trying but not sure on the success. I have $40 in Kohls cash to use starting tomorrow but the Keurig and promo code I believe are only through tonight. TIA!

Re: Keurig

  • We love ours. :-)  We don't have the mini, but several of my co-workers have them in their offices and they get the job done.  I don't drink coffee, but love that I can put tea or hot chocolate pods in mine.  I find that I use it for hot water more than anything, but DH uses it everyday for his morning coffee.

No luck with the Kohl's thing, but I haven't tried either.

    Good luck!

  • I have the mini, and I like it. You don't have all of the water sitting in reserve, and using electricity to keep it warm and ready. However, if you are going to make lots of coffee it can get expensive for the pods, but they do make refillable ones.

This is why I was thinking of the mini. I would be me using it a couple times a month. I don't want water sitting in it for a week or forget to add water and start the thing. With the mini I know I need to add water each time. If I made a large batch I'd use my regular coffee pot. Thanks!

  • We have had the mini for 4 years, I love it! It is great for when we have guests as well because everyone likes different stuff! I got my double stroller online at 11pm or 1am, I was able to stack two promo codes, and get kohls cash, I ended up getting a new stroller for less than they sell for used on my Craig's List.

I thought it was you but didn't want to use your name in case it wasn't! So you went on at 11pm or 1am can't remember? I want to do the same. The Keurig is on sale for $99 right now plus I have $40 in Kohls cash that starts tomorrow and then the 30% off code. So I could get it ideally for $42 plus tax!

  • I have one and like it okay, because I only drink a cup in the morning, but I like my coffee really strong and it's pretty hard to brew it the way I like it in the Keurig. I don't really use the cups because of that. I have a reusable filter that I fill all the way and then brew on the smallest cup size. That's my only regret with getting one.
So the refillable filter works well? I've heard mixed reviews but I wanted to get one so I can use my own coffee instead of the K cups all the time.

  • We have one and I'm pretty sure it's the mini. We love it! We have the reusable k-cup and fill it with our own coffee.

This. I like mine. I only drink one cup a day and DH only drinks coffee at work. If I were drinking more I don't think it would be worth it based on the cost of the pods.

Yep, it was me I'm 99% sure that the codes started stacking at 11pm CST and stopped around 2am CST. I was able to stack a baby sale coupon and a 30% off with an already discounted price (so the $600 ish stroller ended up costing us under $280 after discounts and kohl's cash). I also earned kohl's cash on the transaction. For me it was totally worth the late night!

  • I love it, and I love the convenience of the k-cups. I love the variety of flavors. I had the mini, then got the more deluxe one. I think the more deluxe one brews better coffee and I like the reserve because I usually have a cup or more every day or every other day. If I had a cup on Sunday only or something like that, I'd get the mini.

  • If your deal doesn't work, check out goodwill too. My sister got her Keurig new in box because the top of the water reservoir was cracked and paid $18 for it. :-)

Oh, I upgraded from the mini because of how I make coffee. The max size on the mini is smaller than the max size on the regular keurig. So I had to fill a cup with water, pour it in, press start, wait for the brew. Then get another cup with a little bit of water, dump it in, and run that through the same k-cup just to get a decent size cup of coffee. If you overfill the reservoir, it goes into the drip tray. But to fit my coffee cup under there, I had to remove the drip tray... so it would just pour onto my counter. I don't have to do that with the regular keurig because a) the large size is a bit more volume, and b) if I do want an extra large cup, I do two medium cup cycles to fill a large mug with the press of a button. No overflowing, no using two cups. And the big dog is faster.

  • @AKB090609 I thought it was you! :) So I'll be up at 12 tonight ordering a Keurig. I'm a nut. Thanks!

  • Well I think I'll try the deal. I went to Shopko on lunch and they had the filter for $14.99 (Kohls $24 w/o discount.) I was so excited then I decided to check Amazon. Yeah $7.48. So then I ordered from Amazon. Let's hope it's the right one! Thanks ladies for the info. It seems like such a small, stupid purchase that I've been back and forth on for a while!

  • Well ladies the whole 12am thing didn't work. They go off central time (I'm on Eastern), I wasn't staying up another hour BUT I did notice about 2 hours later than I should have that the promo code for 30% is through the 20th! So I stayed up for nothing but I did some saavy shopping and got the Keurig Mini shipped for $45! Plus I found the filter on Amazon for $7.50! I'm so excited to try it out! Thanks for all the input!

This is not ever an issue if you drink a cup a day. DH & I fill ours every other day.
