Weight gain

I am having a lot of trouble gaining weight during my pregnancy. I'm scared Bc when i went to the dr last month I had only gained 1 pound in 15 weeks and was not showing at all. I haven't been overly sick so I'm not sure what the problem is. I am now 18 weeks and have been eating like crazy, I know have the littlest bump ever. I just feel like it's not enough. Dr said the baby looks healthy and on track but I need to gain. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can?

You are new. Welcome and Congrats!

As for weight gain...have you considered adding a protein shake into your current diet? You can add banana and/or peanut butter to help beef it up some as well.

  • What's your current weight? Not number, but are you under/over/healthy weight? That can really impact your gaining. Don't worry about no bump. 17w for me and no bump day for me yet.

I'm 16 weeks and have only gained 2 pounds so far - after starting in the normal range for my height. Everyone just gains differently. You might just gain quicker later.

  • I am 17 weeks and only gained 2lbs. I am in the underweight catergory but the doctor doesn't seen concerned at this point,

  • At 15 weeks I'd only gained one lb.  I'm showing but this is my 3rd.

  • With my first I didn't gain a single pound until 20 weeks. The midwife said any longer and it would have been a concern, but because baby was measuring on track she wasn't worried. Try not to stress and try to keep eating lots of healthy foods - baby will do fine!

  • Thank you so much everyone, that helped me a lot to know I'm not alone. Normally I am under weight and I've always had trouble gaining weight. I will try adding some more protein in my diet!

  • I'm still down 10 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight. I lost all of it in first tri and haven't gained anything, even though I eat everything in sight.
