I was slightly overweight to begin with (5'4", 175 lbs baseline) but I'm only at 182 now! nbsp;
Women who were overweight at the start of a pregnancy are only supposed to gain between 15 and 20 pounds so you are right on track.
Your thyroid medication should not be keeping you from gaining weight if your dosage is correct.
If you doc is ok then you should be fine. Enjoy not being super uncomfortable.
I'm 27 weeks, and I've gained about the same, except I started at 112 lbs. My OB says eat more protein. I think a factor in how much you should gain is how much you weigh before pregnancy, so if your OB thinks you're doing ok I wouldn't worry. Protein is always good though
I'm 26 weeks tomorrow. At my wedding in December I weighed 147. I'm 5'6. Not sure where I carried it, but
At my 8 week visit I weighed in at 137. By 12 weeks it was 135. 16 weeks 142. 20 weeks down to 140. Made me really nervous. Doctor didn't seem concerned.
24 weeks up to 148. No clue where I am today...that 8 lbs in 1 month shocked me, but I was more concerned with not gaining weight.

This. In fact, my OB's office suggest that people who are overweight to begin with gain only 10/15 pounds. As long as you are measuring correctly, and aren't sick (vomiting, diarrhea), I would't worry.
I started off this pg overweight as well and on a thyroid medication. I've only gained 6 lbs so far. My OB isn't concerned and to be honest, I'm thrilled, especially since with DS I gained 48 lbs. The baby is healthy and fine. I wouldn't worry.

I've lost 10lbs and I have only ever lost weight in my pregnancies until last trimester. My OB is not concerned at all. Also, sugar foods have been my biggest food aversion all pregnancy and I've been eating zucchini like it's my 9-5. If your dr isn't worried about you or the baby, don't give yourself something extra to stress about.
I've only gained 5 and my doctor is thrilled. But what's healthy for me, starting overweight, may not be for someone else. Trust your doctor... If you don't, find a new doctor!
I started off being over weight (165lbs I think or more) I gained 2 lbs in the first month. But then lost that plus another 10 to 15lbs. I am also on Thyroid medication and also have GD. My OB was not concerned at all. My dietitian on the other had at my last appointment was getting concerned about the weight loss. I do have to say that 2 weeks later at my OB appointment I gained 2lbs. Not quite sure how. I was so sick with broncitis that I was only eating to help LO.
So I agree with PP and say if you doctor is not conserned not to worry about it.
I have had no weight gain. I'm 6 lbs under my prepregnancy weight. My on wants me to gain 15-20 lbs but being on the GD diet I'm sure positive that will happen. I wouldn't worry too much about it especially with your doctor doing another ultrasound. They will let you know what you if baby is growing fine.
For real? Again? OP, this same question has been asked ad nauseum. Your doctor isn't concerned.
Sorry.. New to boards. Will be sure to read back weeks and weeks as to not offend you again. Wow, some ppl are very welcoming. Thanks to those who gave real advice and reassurance, I appreciate the help.

@rkisty, I'm not trying to be unwelcoming. And you don't have to go back that far-there's a great search function in the upper right where you can find if something has been asked on this board. The links on the top of the page are super helpful.
So welcome! It would be nice if you would participate on the board and get to know us before accusing me (or anyone else) of anything!
