We are planning to take a vacation around Thanksgiving, but can't decide where to go. We are open to anywhere in the Continental US. We live in Ohio, so within driving distance (<12 hours) is a plus. Where do you like to vacation and why?
I would consider major cities within driving distance at that time of year. Maybe NYC?
There is a lot to do at that time of year. But it's usually cold and nasty. Not ideal with a baby on the subway and stuff. I'd go warmer, personally.
I agree with @LaurLaurLaur.. the weather around Thanksgiving in the northeast is unpredictable.. it could be mild or we could have a foot of snow. I would not want to navigate around the city in the snow with LO. Go south and enjoy some sunshine!
I have never been but I heard that Nashville is really nice and a good amount for kids to do too. I have no idea what the weather would be like.
Ooh, I'll second this. My East coast family and I met in Nashville when DD was 8 months old. We rented an awesome house in Franklin, which was an adorable little town, and went to the zoo. It was a fun trip with kids - my toddler nephew was also there.
My issue is the "driving distance from Ohio" thing. The warmer places are farther away. I hate long drives with kids (my idea of long is more than two hours). I would much prefer to fly to Florida or Austin, TX or something.
BFP #1 9/2010 (lost our baby at 21 weeks)
BFP #2 8/2011 (ectopic pregnancy)
BFP #3 10/2011 (chemical pregnancy)
BFP #4 12/2011 (Abigail born 8/15/12)
BFP #5 5/2013 (Griffin born 1/23/14 with heart defects, now repaired!)

I live 30 minute north of here. Its beautiful around that time! Also look into Gatlinburg renting a cabin and things around that time of year is awesome!!
I didn't mean to post and run, but got stuck in a meeting. We were considering Florida, but I would like to avoid flying to save money. We were also discussing Myrtle Beach area, Norfolk, VA area or maybe somewhere in between. I hadn't thought about Nashville, I'll check into that.
I would like to visit the NE, but as some of you mentioned, not in the winter.
Gatlinburg, Tennessee! They have the most awesome cabins there right in the Smokey Mountains. I was born and raised in Knoxville, TN and Gatlinburg was my second home. We went there all the time. My family owns about 20 cabins in Gatlinburg, so let me know if you head that way and I can get you a deal.
I'm so jealous that this is even an option for you. I'm so homesick!

Do this, the Smokies at Thanksgiving are beautiful, all of the stuff in Gatlinburg is open on thanksgiving day, and there are no crowds.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
