Period Late Because of Progesterone, BUT Follicles Large CD4

Hello:

I got a shock today when I went in for my baseline ultrasound for our third medicated cycle.....I had 3 follicles measuring at 17 mm each. At first I thought these were cysts and the RE said they could be left over from the last cycle. I questioned this because the ultrasound right before my second B2B IUI indicated I did in fact ovulate 3 out of the 4 mature eggs so what is the deal? Turns out the progesterone delayed my period (CD31), but my body acted as though I got my period around the same time I normally would CD26 so I have 3 follicles at 17mm. Needless to say I was told not to take my clomid because I will most likely ovulate on my own over the next few days (if I didn't take the progesterone and my period came when it was supposed to I would be CD10/11 right now). I had NO idea progesterone could cause this mix up in my cycle and was curious if anyone has heard of this, or experience this? My RE told me we should try on our own and if I didn't get pregnant to call when I get a "real" period. So I ran out bought the expensive as hell OPK test and some preseed for tonight

That's what I thought and I haven't been able to find much on google about this. Strangest thing I have ever heard of! I asked if they would trigger my 3 nice looking follies, but the RE declined. Oh well....stress free cycle for me yay!

Since you won't be going in for an IUI you'll have to wear your lucky socks in bed with your man! Hope they work!!

I wore my lucky socks today and I'm hoping this weirdness in my cycle will end up being a good thing! I will be wearing the socks religiously this cycle!

WOW, that's crazy! I'd be asking my RE to give me some very clear answers on how this can happen, and if he doesn't know, to look it up for me. I would also want to know what prevents a trigger and IUI...is the lining looking like it should to go with the follicle size? I would just want to know what exactly is going on there.

Hope this month is your BFP, partly because that would be insanely cool!!!

I called my RE today to confirm my estrogen level and it was 200 yesterday so I def have at least 1 mature follicle out of the 3 that are 17 mm. The RE said that it is possible for your cycle to start when it is naturally supposed to even though your period is late due to progesterone, it is just very rare. Of course I'm rare, what else is new! So my fingers are crossed that the follies are growing and my lining will improve over the next few days from the 5.5 it was at yesterday. I go in for acupuncture in about an hour so hopefully that will help with my lining. Still the strangest thing ever!
