I've been stressing about this. The woman I work for (I'm a nanny) is REALLY over the top about organic/chemical free... And it drives me insane but it also has me thinking. She used to use burts bees, California baby, etc but now even that isn't good enough. She has a lot of honest company products in her house. I have California baby on my registry... We will see how it works out.
I am thinking aveeno this time. I was leery because I'm overly picky about how my babies smell after a bath and I have always loved j&j but aveeno actually smells nice and light I think.
Eta: aveeno is also available in my Podunk town that consists of walmart and Safeway. They don't carry many brands to choose drom
I've always used a combo of Burt's bees, California baby and babyganics. Burt's bees for shampoo and body wash. And I love their apricot scented baby oil. California baby for their calming bubble bath and shampoo and de-tangling conditioner. And babyganics for sunscreen and insect repellent. For this baby I plan to try out some Honest Co products, as I've heard good things about them. And yesterday at destination maternity I just used the tester of their sweet orange vanilla scented body lotion and it smelled so good.

Yes, the orange vanilla body wash/shampoo, conditioner and lotion smell like an orange creamsicle. I love it so much I started using it myself.
We use the Shea Moisture brand of body wash and I love it. I like California Baby, but it's a little more expensive. We used J&J on our son and it gave him really bad cradle cap so we switched everything to more natural stuff.
We are using Aveeno as we were given some at our shower, however since Target just started carrying Honest CO in store I may check that out after we run out if Aveeno.
I am thinking Aveeno. I think it will be best for the beginning for her. DH has sensitive skin to some detergents and fabric softeners but I'm hoping LO doesn't get his allergies.
We used California Baby with my son and really liked it, but stopped using it when they changed their ingredients. We use Babo Botanicals shampoo and body wash and Babyganics bubble bath for my son right now so we'll use the same for the baby, and I'm planning on using Earth Mama Angel Baby diaper rash cream and nipple cream. We never really used lotion with my son, so if #2 needs it, I'll have to do some research.
We have always used Aveeno on DS and I will keep using that till it's gone. I recently switched my body and face wash to Burt's Bees and really like it so I might buy some Burt's Bees for the LO's next time around.
I have some stuff from when I sold Perfectly Posh but they've discontinued the line. I've also registered for California Baby, Earth Mama and Babyganics. I plan on using coconut oil whenever I can.

I was just going to ask about this. DD had bad cradle cap, and we used J&J. I wondered if some of the other brands would prevent this for LO. I'll have to try some of the ones suggested!
I like Mustela and California Baby. The mustela cradle cap shampoo is awesome and I have yet to meet a Cal Baby product I didn't love. But we also used J&J at first with Arthur because we got two bottles free at the hospital.

Yeah, I had no idea the J&J was causing it until he got his second haircut and the hairdresser said they saw it all the time and reccommended switching his shampoo. It got a lot better after switching to the SheaMoisture and it smells like Heaven.

I dont think the J&J was causing it, from what I read about cradle cap is there is no known cause. The shampoo you switched to was probably just more effective at getting rid of it than the J&J

I'm impressed there's even shampoo to get rid of it. DD's daycare teachers helped us out by basically scratching it off her head, giving her a big ole bald spot. We had tried the oil and brushing method, but either I was doing it wrong, or it didn't work. I'll definitely be buying these cradle cap shampoos if LO has the same issue. Thanks for the advice!
I already got some Aveeno products for LO since I already use Aveeno for myself and I'm a fan. DH and I both have sensitive skin. Ever since I converted to Aveeno, I have noticed a great improvement in my skin.
You can also check out www.ewg.org/skindeep/! You can look up certain products and their safety profile. The lower the number, the safer it is
I have sensitive skin and psoriasis so I'm nervous baby may have skin issues too. Starting off with Aveeno and may try out some Burt's Bees and California Baby products too.
DS is 2.5 and we are still using the J&J shampoo and body wash stock we got at my shower. For lotion, we use Aveeno for eczema prevention/treatment (dark blue cap).

DS had it and the baby oil worked the best for us. I would put the baby oil on a little before DS's bath and massage it in and let it sit and while he was in the bath I would gently comb whatever loosened up out of his hair and wash out the baby oil. It took a few treatments of the baby oil but it got rid of it.
I used the Weleda Calendula stuff with DS1 and really didn't love the scent. I adore Burts Bees Baby Bee scent, so we will be going with that this time.
