Just us for his birthday

Sorry if this has been asked already, I'm having trouble googling :(

Does anyone have any ideas on how to make DS's actual birthday special?  We had the party last weekend and finished the cake last night.  I'm at a loss for what to do today to make it feel special for him.  

I can't do much physically (stupid pelvic girdle pain) so I can't take him to the park, but I also don't feel like that is "special" since we do it all the time.

Any ideas ladies?  What are you doing, if anything, on their actual birthdays?

    Bellanxthe had good ideas. Honestly I am sure spending time with him is what he would enjoy the most. At this age they do not really need material things. I am sure he will be happy with whatever you do!

    I took Veronica to Chackie Cheeses for an hour after I came from work on her birthday. She was super happy :)

    I save mommy and daddy presents (and any that might come in the mail) for that day. Might fill the living room up with balloons. Have a special sweet breakfast and then go blow her birthday money. maybe ice cream for dinner when daddy gets home.

    Some great ideas on here already. I'd do lots of balloons too. If he doesn't have any pressies to open on the day itself, maybe hit the dollar store and get lots of little things he'd like? It's all about opening stuff as much as anything else at this age. Any little thing goes a long way... a sparkler candle on a cup cake... silly string... a special hat to wear all day... Mine has her b'day on a public holiday and we take her to see the fireworks and tell her they are in honour of her. She beamed when everyone stood up to sing the national anthem, thought they were singing happy birthday to her. Hope the pelvic girdle issues get better, those are nasty.

    Thanks everyone! I think we will make some single serve cupcakes. He likes to watch me cook and I think helping mix would be special and enjoyable.

    I will make her favorite breakfast and then we're taking her out for lunch. We'll either go to the children's museum, zoo or splash pad. She'll also open presents from us. Oh - we'll have cake too.
