We've been potty training DS2 for a little over a month. (He's 3 years, 3 months for those on mobile.) He will go if you take him every 30 or 45 minutes, but now no longer cares if he just pees his pants and hangs out in it. It used to bother him but not anymore. If I don't take him, he just goes. He will poop in the potty about 70% of the time, but that slowly seems to be regressing too.
I would just say he's not ready and try again later, but his ABA and OT both think he's ready and that I shouldn't throw out the progress we've made. I'm just sick of washing clothes every night because he's gone through over a dozen pairs of shorts and underwear. And with summer, he's drinking a lot.
Vent over.
Re: Quick vent
He will only go if you put him on the potty and recently (last couple months) he refuses to even sit on it and gets really anxious and pleads "No potty. No more potty!" He is speech delayed so I am not sure what to do at this point either. He used to feel proud and now its upsetting him. I decided to take a break and FTR, he just turned 4.
And now I think he's constipated. Ugh.
We have loads of incentives and they work until they don't. He gets matchbox car for pooping, and his special interest is vehicles, so it had been working. Time to switch it up, I guess.
