Ultra sound baby's weight.

At 23.5 weeks my ultra sound showed my boy weighing in at 1.9lbs. Does that mean a large baby.

  • Also I googled and found an answer to your question pretty easily:

  • @pnwlover12 We're MINT TO BE labor buddies. I had this same thought....

  • Ok, I'll actually answer.

From what I understand those estimates aren't even all that reliable. And babies grow at different rates in either case, so it could be a big baby right now, but average out.

  • Those are always off as far as weight goes. I was told throughout my whole first pregnancy that I would have a big baby. I always measured big, and so did the baby. When I had her she was only 6.5lbs.

This. They aren't accurate late in pregnancy either. During late 3rd Tri, we were told DS would between 7.5-9.5 lbs. He was born at 40w3d weighing 6lbs 12oz... So yeah.

I don't know the answer to your question, but you should run because this is going to get ugly lol. First posts that are questions without ever giving an intro usually don't go over so well on this board. Not to scare you, please do post an intro! We are a fun group and would like to get to know you. Please read the post on the group page that says "READ THIS FIRST!" before you post again, it might help :0)
Maybe I should save this for my UO tomorrow but who gives a rip if someone does an intro? We aren't some club that no one has access to if they want to ask a question. I don't understand posts like these for new people.
Hey now, I was nice! I didn't flame her, I just said I didn't think it was going to go over well! Because the answer to your question is, lots of people. Whether it's right or wrong, lots of people just do. For me, it's not as much about the intro as it is participation in the board. Like you don't want to answer other peoples ?, or offer T&P, but you want a thread for your question? I hear ya, maybe it's petty. But I was nice about it, directed her to the newbie thread, and even gave her a link with an answer to her question anyway! I could have just put a sarcastic GIF.

Yep, you were nice about it, but I just don't think it's necessary. Not a biggie, just saying. I could care less about intros but other people think newbies should do them. Just my opinion.
Wwwwhhaattt??? Opinionated pregnant women???? How odd :0). ETA: But yea, that would be a decent UO in this group, I think! Save your ammo, I love Thursdays and never have anything good to add.

  • I'm right there with the feeling of take estimates with a grain of salt. My last u/s with DS was less than 24 hours before he was born. He was estimated as 7.5lbs and born at 6.5lbs
  • @NavyFlyer‌ you are so nice. I thought that was a very appropriate and gentle warning.

  • I don't think they're always far off. My last one (day before birth) was only off by 2 ounces. I think a lot of it depends on the tech and machine.

Third trimester ultrasounds are always estimates that are + or - at least a pound. I would just think this was coincidence.

  • I've never done an introduction. I was going to until I realized it would go something like "Hi, I'm having a kid in October." And that's about it. I don't read the other intro threads either. Mostly because I'm sure they say the person is having a kid in October. And possibly some ancillary info I'll never remember.
  • They told me at 38 weeks that my baby would be over 9lbs. 1 week later he was 7lbs 9oz

Ha ha- they told me the opposite- said the baby would be between 7.5-8, and I gave birth to a 9 pound 1 ounce baby- the fetal estimates are notoriously off- in either direction.

Actually, I don't know anybody IRL who's ultrasounds were more than a couple ounces off.
