Marriage in DC?

Ok, so S and I want to be all "official" by the time little ones are here. We live in NC, so closest place for us to go would be DC to get hitched. Lol

Did any of you get married there? Thoughts or suggestions?

We did a private commitment ceremony/marriage when we went to the Dominican Republic in 2009 and had wanted to be married eventually here in NC, but that has yet to work out how we wanted it to. I get 3 weeks off from school at end of Sept/ start Oct. So that would be when we will go.

Feelin lost in the process.

My wife and I married in DC in 2012 but it was easy because we live here.

You do have to apply for the license and then wait a few days, so it might make sense for you to plan to be in DC for a few days, but you could treat it like a vacation. Maryland is super close as well, obviously. I'm not sure if there's less of a wait time for the license there but it might be worth looking into.
