Breast pump

I was wondering how many ladies already have a breastpump? If so, what brand?
If you dont, are you waiting till after labor to get one?

Re: Breast pump

  • I have the Hygeia EnJoye. I like it so far (without using it yet) compared to the medela and ameda pumps. We will see how it goes!

  • Apologies for the hijack OP, but might any posters also mention whether their pump is dual voltage? I can't tell whether they are from online descriptions/research. I need one for when I return to 220 land!
  • I have a Medela PISA. Got it covered by my insurance.

  • I have the Ameda Purely Yours that I was able to get for free through my insurance. I wasn't about to buy one as a FTM before knowing whether I have any bfing issues.
  • We don't get a pump free through our insurance and I am going to be a SAHM, so I just got the Medela manual for now. I am going to take it to the hospital just in case there are any complications and I need to pump for some reason there.

  • I just got The First Years Quiet Expressions Double Breast Pump today and put it together just now. I found it on clearance after a bad shopping trip at Target, but it has pretty positive reviews online, and on clearance it was only $70. We have generally very good insurance, but they would only cover a single manual breast pump, which I didn't think was going to cut it. I will get the free one anyway but have high hopes for this one too.

  • My insurance covered the Medela PISA tote or backpack version (I got the tote), and they let me get it as soon as I had a doctor's order on file, so I've had mine for about 3 weeks already.

  • I'm still curious to know if there's anyone who thinks its best to buy one after labor?

Ditto this, except I got the backpack version. :)

I got the PISA tote yesterday through my insurance. I had to pay to upgrade to the tote. The whole process took about 2 weeks from ordering it online to it showing up at my house. About 5 of those days were downtime from me not calling the insurance company to confirm my order.

  • Medela PISA through insurance. I also have to wait for deliver until my insurance co will order it. Will be supplied w a rental until then. I'm going to try and pump as early as possible (heard morning feelings work best) to get my supply up and start routine of storing milk for my return to work. I'm a FTM so we'll see how this goes...

  • I also ended up with the Medela PISA. I got the Metro tote but I did have a small co-pay to upgrade from the pack/tote. I liked that the pump could be taken out of the bag and carried around easily but yet the bag is great for carrying it all together. It's a dual pump and can either be plugged in or battery pack. Insurance covered most of the cost.
